If you have ever read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories or novels or seen BBC's Sherlock series, you know about Sherlock's extraordinary skills of observation, induction, and deduction. In Sherlock, it takes the likes of Jim Moriarty and Irene Adler to throw him off.

So, this post is for what Sherlock can know. If you want him to know something about your character but can't think of how he could figure it out, tell me. We can work together to decide on something that would indicate it. Otherwise, consult the list below and carefully consider what sort of marks your character would have and what that would reveal, particularly in combination with each other.

A good example of what Sherlock is capable of can be found in the links below.

Things to consider: style of clothes, condition of clothes, brands of clothes, hair style, grooming products used, grooming products not used, amount of grooming products used, personal hygenie, state of fingernails, jewellery, condition of jewellery, kind of make-up, amount of make-up, posture, wallet, purse, condition of fashion and function accessories, cell phone, make of cell phone, condition of cell phone, perfume/cologne, kind of perfume/cologne, amount of perfume/cologne, tan, kind of tan, severity of tan, corrective eye lenses, habits, hobbies, health issues, profession (and the subsequent "marks" it would leave on someone).

Because memes totally need permissions too, right? ;) Let's see how detailed I can get.

Clothes: Oversized, usually cheap and often rather worn, but always clean (except for paint speckles, which are kind of an unavoidable reality with her). Prefers long sleeves. Will occasionally wear t-shirts while painting or if the weather is exceptionally hot, but it's rare. Her shoes are usually utilitarian, rather than fashionable. Worn from walking a lot, and showing the signs of having been out in all kinds of weather quite often. The fabric of any of her shoes will show signs from jumping in puddles, stepping in mud, treking over rough ground, and other such details, even though she'll clean up the worst of it later.

Also, because her fashion sense is kind of...fashionless...it can be harder to tell, but she is from the 70s. Certain styles that she picks might trend more to hippie-ish designs, though she doesn't go out of her way to keep up the look.

Hair style: Tangled, naturally curly, naturally dark. Usually with paint in her curls, particularly behind her ear if she put her paintbrush there while she's working. No product used at all (other than shampoo and conditioner, and probably not an expensive brand).

Hands: Right handed. Her index finger on her right hand is slightly indented from constant use with a pencil or paintbrush. Fingernails are short and unpainted.

Grooming/Hygiene: Not at all groomed, but clean. Generally smells of paints and turpentines and soap. No jewelry, unless it's Luceti-verse, in which case she has a ring that Jack gave her on chain around her neck. She usually forgets it's there.

Health Issues: Has had an STD (probably Chlamydia). Since been cured. Track marks on her left arm have mostly faded, but there is still light scarring there if she wears short sleeves. She hasn't used in 6-7 years, so there's no sign of recent use.

Habits/Hobbies: She starts most days with coffee. She sleeps at odd hours and not always a lot. She doesn't really favor morning or night, so it's kind of hit or miss whether she's had a decent night's sleep...it depends on what projects she has going. She is terrible at keeping things neat and it generally shows in her hair, her fashion choices, and her housekeeping. She spends a lot of her time reading, drawing, painting, taking walks, and talking to people.

What she has on her at any given time: Pencil, sketchbook, a small amount of cash (real-world)...maybe a little more than enough for a cup of coffee... key to where she lives. No car keys. No phone. No wallet. No credit cards. No watch. No makeup. Maybe chapstick.

Important Facts he might figure out...but I don't know how: She's masking a less-educated accent. She's changed her way of speaking to not sound like her family. She's been doing this since she was very young, so it's very consistent. Her accent is American - New York, but not from the city. She lives about an hour away from the Canadian border, but she's never visited and never really left the area surrounding Newford.

She's not going by her actual name. Jilly or Jillian is correct, but her "real" last name is Carter. She almost never introduces herself with first and last name, but if she does there isn't really a hesitation before introducing herself as Jilly Coppercorn. She's taken to thinking of that as her true self.

She's not really a city girl or a country girl. She's lived in both places and she has a great appreciation for elements of both, though she definitely prefers the city.

In real-life verses, she's used to working with the homeless and the elderly. Signs of those environments might be on her clothes or person.

Her sense of personal space varies widely. She's very comfortable with hugs and hand-holding and boundaries with women or with men she considers as good friends (like Archie or, in her actual world, Geordie), but if a motion could be considered at all intimate, her demeanor becomes more tense and anxious immediately, even if it's just a touch on the arm.

....Okay, calling it quits for now. I'll add more if I think of it. lol.

Ginia Solana

[personal profile] shadedsunlight 2012-03-07 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Clothes: Comfortable, but nice clothes that allow for movement. Nice skirts, blouses, clean jeans, professional casual. If she's training, then jogging pants and a t-shirt. If she's wearing a nice dress or black slacks/skirt and a white blouse, she just finished working at Cloud Nine. Always in good condition, very rarely frayed or stained. Someone very used to business settings and putting on a good impression, but also ready for action at a moment's notice. Examples: One two (also a good reference for her hair. Tied back if she's training or working on something, may also curl it if going to some nice gathering.) three four (ignore the hair.)
--Shoes: Shoes are often flats or something she can comfortably run in. Heels are rare unless she's coming from a fancy party/gathering. If she's patrolling, she has a pair of hiking boots she wears.
--Carries a sheathed knife at her back (usually hidden under her shirt), has a boot knife on an ankle sheath on her right ankle.
--Usually wearing this necklace. She takes it off at night or when she's taking a shower, takes very good care of it. Sherlock is free to draw whatever conclusions he wants from who gave it to her and why.
--Also has this bag with her most of the time. She keeps her journal, extra notebooks and pens, small first aid kit, and extra clothes and some food if she's looking for new feathers.

Physical appearance: Very healthy, fast, works out often (archery, swordfighting, running, martial arts). For scars, here is a reference. She doesn't cover up the on on her arm or leg (she also has a long scrape down her right hip from sliding over some rocks), but she keeps her back scars covered and goes through great effort to keep them covered/concealed. Rarely wears makeup, if she does, it's all very natural (foundation, maybe blush and lipstick). No perfume, no nailpolish, nails are kept trimmed short. Very frequent writer, handles guns and knives/swords, does some archery, plays piano, (eventually) gardens, and cooks so he can draw any clues from her hands. No rings or bracelets. Also wears a silver cross necklace from time-to-time, also kept in excellent condition. Not at all religious, but it was a gift from Giles.

Keeps good posture, former dancer. Well-balanced, very poised, always sits up. Tension points are along her shoulders. Has worked with businessmen, government men, and military alike so some of that may show in her posture and how she presents herself.

Habits: Slight head tilt or taps her chin or cheek with her fingers or pen if she's thinking, likes to keep her hands free (not in pockets, rarely crossed over her chest or behind her back) from all her years of writing or sign language. Never sits with her back to a window or a door, likes to keep her chair angled so she can see as much as possible and minimize blindspots. Sits in a way where it's easy to get in and out. (Caution, used to action, paranoia.) Distances herself from any fires bigger than a campfire.

Profession: Plays piano and sings at Cloud Nine, also bartends and manages the club; assists at the clinic and the Welcome Center. Was a hitman/strategist/guard in her own world. Very familiar with weapons and fighting, doesn't mention it much, if it all to anyone.

Voice: Actually mute, the necklace she wears lets her speak. Her voice is based off her mother's so she has a slight Italian accent (mother was born and raised in Venice). However, she grew up in Davenport (fictional city outside of Boston) so some of the region's dialect may be in there.

Other things: Likes sweets, drinks lots of tea (with honey). Has a dog (mixed breed, large dog) and two cats (orange tabbies, one male, one female, both... I think eight or nine months old?). Left wing was broken at the base and as a result, can't extend as far as it normally can and is tilted down slightly. With people she doesn't know, she likes to keep her distance, but is more touchy-feely with friends (hugs, touching their arm). Smiles all the damn time, often as an emotional mask, the kind of person who tells people she's fine and hides everything when she's really not.

Also grew up reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories so she would know who Sherlock Holmes is, but is smart enough to not canon-puncture anyone.

Alice

[personal profile] shadedsunlight 2012-03-07 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
Clothes: Where Ginia dresses for professionalism, Alice dresses for fun, comfort, and attention. Tends to dress more provocatively (shorter skirts, letting a blouse button be open to show off cleavage), but still never sloppily. Enjoys attention, thinks "if you got it, flaunt it", but still remains respectful of Ginia (and their shared body) and will try to keep her back covered up.
--Wears this necklace (has a blue sapphire in the center). Kept in excellent condition, very treasured. (Given to her by Helios, serves the same function as Ginia's necklace.)
--Also carries around Ginia's bag because it's a convenient way to carry everything.

Physical appearance: Physically, the two are identical, but Alice is a little sloppier. Not unhygenic, just less likely to care if her hair is mussed up from running around or there's dirt under her nails from gardening. Posture is stiffer, always ready for action. Relaxes around people she's familiar and close to (Helios, Grune). Think a jaguar up in a tree; she may be relaxing, but she's still keeping an eye on everything and ready to strike.

Mannerisms: While Ginia is 32, Alice acts much younger mentally. Not less intelligent, but her scope of knowledge and understanding is smaller. She's going to ask lots of questions if she doesn't know something, but she is also very blunt in forward with what she says because she doesn't know any better. If someone is attractive, she'll say so. If someone is being an ass, she'll tell them. Alice is a blunt brick to the head. Also cannot lie. She can avoid the truth, she can walk away or throw a punch at someone's face if they annoy her enough, but she can't actually lie.

...I'm sure there's more, but I can't brain them right now. Ask if you need more!
redjacketthief: @ starkxravingxmad (smirk-- twisted)

Arsene Lupin III--apologies in advance for the TL;DR

[personal profile] redjacketthief 2012-03-07 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Clothes: Fitted, stylish, classy. It's not often that he will be seen without his trademark jacket, though it should be noted that he does vary between green and red depending on his mood. The red jacket dominates, and is part of his iconic image. Otherwise, he predominantly wears the full suit get up with a yellow tie, all of it always clean falling straight unless he's been on a job for the last several days.

The only times he won't be spotted in his suit is when the ocassion calls for it. In those circumstances, he will dress for the event. As a thief, he loves his disguises and costumes. He will literally go for any look that is called for, if it can be done. It isn't unusual for him to be seen with glasses, though he wears them mostly for dramatic effect rather than actual function. Glasses lend him a quiet, academic presence, he thinks.

Of note: Lupin's wings are not kept out in the open. He keeps them tucked underneath his clothing. Additionally, he always wears his semi-automatic sidearm, a Walther P-38, on a shoulder harness directly underneath his suit jacket. Though he's borderline ambidextrous, he still favors his right hand. As such, the gun is holstered on the left shoulder.

His shoes might also be of note. They're black leather, with soft soles. They're clean, unless he's been out on a job

I have image references on my profile page if you believe that they will be helpful.

Grooming/Hygiene: Showers daily with soap and shampoo that's cheap but has a minimum of fragrances. In his trade, any little thing can be a detriment. This includes heavy scented soaps. His fingernails are likewise trimmed and clean, he's always clean shaven. He wears no jewelry to speak of.

Notable is the fact that his hands are callused from handling lockpicks on a regular basis. He's also very deft and quick, and is capable of minor feats of sleight of hand or pick pocketing, though he keeps that to a minimum in Luceti.

Hair: NOT close cropped, but slicked back a la Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca. It's thick and black, and would likely have a wave to it if he let it grow out. His shampoo is similarly cheap and low fragrance, and he uses a light scented pomade to keep it back. The attempts don't always work.

Health Issues: None, really. He's quite healthy, but avoids octopi and squid like the plague. This is because he's more than a little allergic to them--even touching one is enough to get him sick, he says. We haven't seen this in action to be certain.

Appearance: He stands at 5'10", and is very thin and lanky. He doesn't have much muscle mass, but he is strong enough and flexible enough to perform minor acrobatic feats--or scratch his head with his toes. He can get out of almost any binding, given enough time.

Ever a cocky and confident man, he stands straight and projects his ego as he's out and about. He's quick to smile, even quicker to tell a joke, but really doesn't like standing still. When he's with his friends, or when he thinks no one is watching, he does have a habit of lounging on various chairs/sofas, though he's not nearly as notorious for it as his friend Jigen.

Otherwise, on the off chance that the two end up meeting at a pool (one of the few ocassions where Lupin's wings will be exposed and he won't be in his suit) he'll likely be seen in a speedo or a classic one from the late 1800s. You know the one, it looks really dorky. His wings are red, for reference, and he keeps them covered becauuse he doesn't like the constant reminder of the one prison he's going to have a hell of a hard time breaking out of.

Additionally, he has various scars on his body, namely a bullet scar on his abdomen, another on his shoulder, and another on his other shoulder from an arrow.

It's best not to ask.

Habits/Hobbies: Lupin is a smoker, and has been smoking more since entering Luceti than he has in recent years. His favored brand is an unusual French one, Gitanes, but they're hard to find outside of France normally. He's yet to find them in Luceti

The brand he's been using lately has been the same as his long time buddy, Jigen: Pall Malls.

He also maintains bizaare sleeping habits, normally culminating in him just crashing whenever and, if at a friend's house, where ever. The homes of his friends are more interesting than his, so he just makes himself at home.

Otherwise, he likes his coffee, he likes his alcohol, and he likes a great many, many things. He's not picky about what he eats.

Of late, in Luceti, he's taken to training nightly with Captain Smoker, mostly as a means of making sure he doesn't get his behind handed to him in a fight. He's fast and clever, but not a trained fighter. If he fights, it's with toys and it's very dirty. In Luceti, he's not going to have access to his toys easily, unless he gets lucky or ends up making them himself.

He's also a notorious journal stalker, does things for people without telling them, breaks into homes to drop off little gifts or wine anonymously, or has been bumming around the library. More likely than not, he knows something. Not that he will tell--he's a notorious liar too.

Important Facts: Lupin is the grandson of an infamous French thief of the same name who may or may not be fiction in your canon. Seeing Sherlock as who he is, he might not catch onto this, even if the people around him do. Additionally, he's half French and half Japanese, but is so plain looking that he can go through either country without a second glance. Culturally, he's French, though anymore he's taken to seeing the road as his home.

He's an excellent mimic, able to copy most any voice he hears with ease, and is fluent with native proficiency in French, English, and Japanese. He can also muster up passable fluency in other languages with some practice, and can copy most any accent. Normally he takes on a neutral accent--which ever one is least noticeable in his current region--but likely has a North East American accent, one that's more on the Newscaster end, in Luceti.

He also loves dating, loves women, but can't maintain a proper relationship with anyone but Mine Fujiko, who is also in Luceti. Unfortunately, that relationship is unhealthy on both ends, and it really is a miracle that they haven't killed eachother yet. That said, commitment is a big, unwanted concept. He can't do it. He loves the thrill of the adventure too much. Since she is here in Luceti, however, and Lupin doesn't have the patience for being distracted from his goals, this will be kept to a minimum.

Since the two have been hanging around each other quite a bit, it's likely that some lingering scents of Fujiko hang around him. In perfumes, she favors the classic Chanel No. 5.

He's a very open, touchy-feely guy in general who is quick to smile and quick to tell a joke. He's not honest with anyone, not even himself in many ocassions, and is extremely restless in this static environment. He's very smart, but his inability to keep still has lead to some stupid decisions already, and will likely lead to more.

mikangirl: DEFAULT DEFAULT (running away)

[personal profile] mikangirl 2012-03-07 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Clothes: Always fashionable, always only a month or two old at most. In poor and cold weather she dresses absolutely practically with a penchant for fur-lined anoraks etc, in warm weather she dresses in a variety of clothing that often doesn't cover much and high-heeled sandals. She's totally comfortable with her figure and she's the kind that's attractive, knows it, and uses it to her advantage.

Hair style: It's well-cared for in the sense that she washes and brushes it regularly and trims the split ends out on a regular basis, but Nami doesn't use any styling product and often if she's been out and about (which is most days of the week) it's flyaway and kind of fluffy, and her bangs have a cowlick or two. Her hair generally looks good, just not perfect. Expensive shampoo used (for a given definition of expensive in a place like Luceti.)

Personal hygiene: The girl showers every day - sometimes twice, if she's been out on the ocean/at the mikan orchard, and usually has at least one luxurious bath a week. It's one of those things she really enjoys and takes advantage of as much as possible. Cleanliness is important to her, but not to the point of obsession and it's certainly something that gets left by the wayside in a crisis or some such.

Hands: She's right-handed. Well cared for hands, the fingernails are kept short; despite that they're a little rough from constant exposure to the ocean/rigorous work on a ship, and she has calluses to show that she does a great volume of writing (or in this case cartography) and also fights/spars with a weapon on a regular basis (a staff). Early in the day they'll be clean and by the end of the day they may be either reddened (from the ocean) or dirt trapped under the fingernails (from the orchard) or the occasional faint ink stain (today was a mapping day). Her fingers are also long and she has excellent manual dexterity, and she excels at sleight of hand and pickpocketing. She doesn't do much of either in Luceti, however.

Jewellery: She wears earrings regularly, most often small pearl ones, though those change on occasion as does her necklace-- she rarely wears anything particularly expensive but goes more for fashion and accessorising. She always wears the same two bracelets on her left hand; a plain gold one and one that looks like a compass without any actual directions attached:

The gold one's of great sentimental value and she touches it often when feeling uncertain, and she checks the compass on occasion as a matter of habit, but by the wobbly nature of the needle it's likely broken.

Make-up: She doesn't wear any facial makeup unless it's a special occasion/wants to make an impression etc, though she does use moisturisers on her face. She often paints her fingernails, though. On rarer occasions, also her toenails. That usually requires her being bored.

Posture: Reasonably good, occasionally prone to slouching when she's worn out or frustrated, exceptionally good when she's confident...though when she's sitting she has a habit of propping her chin up on her right hand.

Perfume/cologne: She only occasionally uses perfume, and it's often because she's been gifted a bottle by someone. When she does use it, it's only a small amount-- unless she's trolling someone who can't stand the smell of perfume. She usually smells of mikans and sometimes salt (and, if you believe the manga, money.)

Tan: She always has one of these, even in winter, though in winter it probably looks closer to mild windburn than a tan. It's a moderate one; she's outdoors a lot but looks after her skin.

Skin: Nami has a mikan-and-pinwheel tattoo on her left arm (as in the icon) etched in dark blue ink. Though she's healed well, there is a roughness to the skin beneath it that says this likely wasn't the first tattoo she's had, and there are scarmarks from what looks to be multiple knife wounds covered by the ink. (Whether Sherlock can infer from that that someone took great offence to the first tattoo and mutilated it, I have no idea and will leave up to you.)

She also has (barely visible) scars elsewhere; one knife scar on the back of her right hand, and a couple of small puckered marks on her lower back that might look a bit odd, and her right wing has the tiniest little kink to the bone structure.

Apart from that, it's clear she eats incredibly nutritiously.

Habits: Nami always goes armed, which is often very obvious - she carries a three piece staff which has its own special hip holster, less so in winter as she carries it within her coat. It's a metallic blue and the insides seem hollow at first glance-- or packed with something unidentifiable. What is much less obvious is that she carries herself as if expecting trouble, and she will always size up a new person on the street in a quick glance to try and work out if they are (a) trouble, or (b) rich.

She gets up before sunrise and goes to bed late, often taking a nap in the afternoon to offset the lack of sleep (she often has faint circles under her eyes in the mornings), and spends much of her days divided between the beach, the mikan orchard, and the bar. She's in the bar most nights and she drinks - usually only a couple of drinks, but sometimes a great deal, but seems to show no adverse effects to this. Nami's capacity and tolerance for alcohol is monstrous.

Hobbies/Profession: They're kind of one and the same. Nami is a navigator and cartographer who tends a mikan orchard on the side, all things that she absolutely loves to do. She has a prodigal sense of the weather and can often warn the village well ahead of oncoming storms/blizzards, etc.

She also visits the hot springs on occasion, loves to sailboard, meddle in her friends' lives (she is very protective) and spy on the journals. And the topic of money and riches can overturn her common sense like nothing else can.

I've no idea how much of this helps, but if I can think of anything else during any potential threads, I'll let you know.

Appearance reference

Clothes: Long-sleeved shirts, open tunics, pants. All of his clothing is loose, usually in plain, dark colors. He's always wearing some sort of mesh undershirt/pants. They're slightly visible by the wrists/ankles, where they extend past the sleeves of his usual clothes. He keeps his wings tucked out of view, under his clothes.
--Shoes: Typically an odd-looking, open-toed boot. During the Winter he's finally grudgingly started wearing combat boots.
--Flak jacket: 90% of the time you'll see him wearing a green flak jacket (see picture)
--Forehead protector: If he's wearing the flak jacket, he's definitely wearing his forehead protector... albeit that may not be the best word for it. It's a metal plate with a leaf-shaped insignia, sewn into the sleeve of his left arm.
--Jewelry: His ears are pierced - two plain, silver studs.
--Other: He wears two pouches in easy view - the first is strapped to the side of his right leg, above the knee. The second is on his left hip.

Physical appearance: Black hair, narrow brown eyes. His skin tone and facial structure might have a slightly Asian look. He slouches, and typically has a bored expression, giving him a lazy look. If the situation turns serious, he carries himself much more at attention, back straight.
--Hair style: His hair is coarse and spiky. He wears it in a high ponytail that manages to stick straight up making his head look like a pineapple. He has a jagged hairline.
--Build: Lean, but toned. He's about 5' 8'', and 140 lbs.
--Hands: His hands are rough and callused. Fingernails are trimmed, but not always clean. If you look closely, there's likely faint scars (years old) from weapons practice. He's trained ambidextrous.
--Grooming/Hygiene: Typically well-groomed. If he's coming from training he might look dirty, but he cleans up once he gets back to his apartment. All the same, he's a teenage boy. He might throw on a shirt without washing it sometimes, if it doesn't smell.

Habits/Hobbies: He spends a lot of time in the forest, sometimes around the deer, so he might smell like it. When the weather is good, he also has a habit of sitting up on the rooftops/in the trees around the square, either to people watch or to look at the clouds. He eats lunch at the Seventh Heaven often, but he never goes to the bar or to the Battle Dome.

He often sits where the shadows are thickest, or at least nearby. If indoors, he likes to sit at the back of the room, and he will often be reading his journal. If he bothers to start a conversation there, he usually moves discussions off journals unless absolutely harmless, preferring to meet in-person.

Voice: Deepish for his age (he's 17). Uses slang and contractions, and often drawls his words. He speaks crisply when serious, however, sometimes sounding as if he's giving a military report.

Profession: Shinobi (basically ninja meets soldier), strategist.

Other facts: Lazy as he appears, he's a keen observer himself and hyper aware of his surroundings. He's also much more intelligent than he acts in a normal conversation.

He doesn't come from modern day Earth, though his world does have some of its technology (electricity, movies, etc). His family name - Nara - may be familiar however. Nara is a famous city in Japan, known for its free-roaming tame deer.

Atsuro Kihara

[personal profile] ctrlaltdemons 2012-03-07 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
clothes; Here. Loose, comfortable, modern, and convenient. Basically just things like t-shirts and hoodies along with his usual jeans. He just wears whatever is comfortable for him and doesn't really pay much attention to its style or anything like that. His clothes are generally clean and not that worn out. He stays inside most of the time -- so they don't really get too dirty -- and even when he's out he's usually just in the library.
--shoes; Sneakers.
--the hat; He wears this hat all the time. The only times he's not wearing it are when he's sleeping, showering, at the beach, etc. Otherwise, it's always on. It basically looks like this underneath though.
--COMP; I guess it's also worth noting that he does have a "game system" in his pocket 24/7. It looks exactly like a DS/3DS and is the same size, so there's probably a bulge in his pocket from that. What Sherlock won't know, however, is that the thing is not a real game system.
--jewelery/condition of; None! He just has a bulky watch, which he keeps in good condition. He's very meticulous about his things – electronics in particular.
--the bag; That orange bag shown in the first image link? He has it with him all the time, and it carries his journal, notepad, and some pens or pencils. Maybe snacks occasionally too.

physical appearance; Black hair, black eyes, probably around 5’7’’ or so. His posture is more or less alright; he stands up straight, for the most part, if not slouching a little bit. Due to him staying indoors most of the time, his skin is fairly pale, but not too much so – he’s not a total shut-in.
--grooming/hygiene; Whatever's necessary for optimal comfort and so that he doesn't smell gross. Basically he’s clean. His fingernails are kept trimmed and are generally clean.

habits/hobbies; He stays indoors most of the time, whether it be in his apartment or in the library. As far as hobbies go though, Atsuro's a computer geek. He spent most of his time programming back at home, but that obviously isn't the case here in Luceti (he'll get a laptop from a mission... eventually...). He does, however, spend a lot of time tinkering with his journal and COMP (that "game system" thing).

health; His parents lived out of the country back at home so he had to take care of himself, which included eating right and keeping in shape... so if anything, he's actually really healthy. And despite his appearance, strong as well. He trains at the Battle Dome from time to time, both for health benefits and just to keep his skills sharp.

other things; …probably not something Sherlock can figure out from the get-go, but it’d become apparent soon enough, I guess. Atsuro’s really trusting though, especially toward those that he looks up to. He idolizes his mentor from home – Naoya – and is proud to call himself his “no.1 apprentice” despite the fact that he’s the last person one should ever trust. And he follows his best friend (Kouki, who is in Luceti) in whatever he does, no matter how morally wrong it may be. It’s worth mentioning since he knows who Sherlock Holmes is and will more than likely look up to Sherlock and find him to be the most awesome person ever. Even if he is rude.

First off! Feel free to post to this - permission post directory :)

Style and condition of clothes: Generally fairly adolescent, casual, and easy to move in, usually in earthy colours (especially green). There's a list here for general stuff - he doesn't wear his canon outfit, aside from the hat and boots. Conditionwise, they're usually in decent repair, although there may be signs of a pretty outdoorsy life (...especially on his boots if he's just come from the stables). Wings are almost always worn out.

Hair style: Bangs are about cheek length, with little bits in front of his ears. At the back, it's tied back in a ponytail that's usually hidden by his hat (visible here). Might be a little on the messy and uneven side... especially since he cuts it himself.

Grooming in general: ...Geeeenerally okay, although he is a very active teenage boy (er, for another month) and that occasionally shows. His fingernails may be a little on the dirty side, especially if he's been in the stables, although he does try to keep them clean (if he notices).

Accessories: Small blue hoop earrings in both earlobes, generally well-cared-for. He also has two other major items on him - a leather pouch on his belt holding his ocarina, and, more prominantly, a leather sword belt holding the Master Sword (shown here, and the scabbard is visible quite clearly here).

Other physical things: Uh, the ears are pretty noticable! (See any icon, really!) Pretty decently muscled - he's not a beefcake, but he's definitely pretty strong. Posture is pretty upright, although he definitely is more relaxed in Luceti than he is in Hyrule (unless it's a tense situation, in which case he's tense as anything). Tan is... fairly good for his face and hands, and, in warmer weather, forearms, but generally nowhere else. And he has a lot of scars. (He'll always keep the killing blow from Yuber covered, and thus will never be seen shirtless, but the ones on his arms are pretty clear.) There is a faint mark on his left hand (shaped like this, but with the lower right triangle more prominant) that he's not... HIDING, exactly, but not showing off, either. Fidgets a lot (seriously, he has a whole range of idle animations XD).

Hobbies / profession: Hobbies include music (ocarina, seen here, and guitar, acoustic and strung left-handed), horseriding (his horse Epona lives in the stables between house 42 and community house 7, and he can be seen visiting at least twice-daily), and... lurking around outside the bakery for sweets. Gardening, too, he can be seen really regularly in the memory garden outside the Welcome Centre (it was half his idea). Occupation-wise, he teaches sword and archery skills, sometimes outside, sometimes in the barracks, sometimes in the Battle Dome. His left hand may have calluses from using a sword a lot, actually. (As a side note, when heading to or returning from a class, he'll also carry his shield, partially seen here, and if it's an archery lesson, his bow and a quiver of arrows, too.) Mostly in the afternoons, he works at Azzip, the pizzeria.

Handedness: Left-handed, although not exclusively - Link would probably be classified as left-dominant mixed-handed, since there's some things requiring raw strength (like using the hookshot, in the game, where Link basically has to support all of his weight in one hand) he uses his right hand for.

And there's a whole stack of other stuf... here (note that the links under Items and Peculiarities are no longer being updated), and here. In case my tl;dr wasn't long enough ;)

Wow I'm going to apologize for the length RIGHT NOW. I'm very sorry.

Clothing: All of his stuff is pretty plain -- his mother apparently was the one who bought him clothes and he's never really seen fit to change the kind of style he's been put in. When it's colder he'll have another jacket on but other than that, it's his usual navy pants/jacket, yellow cravat, boots. He doesn't keep his sword on him since there's not much of a reason to.

Physical Appearance: Despite his baby face, he is surprisingly tall (at around 5'8" iirc) but he's also fairly skinny, so he's probably a lankier, awkward looking kid. He has a scar on his stomach (canon dictates he was stabbed on his left side, but most of fandom depicts him with it on the right) but unless you saw it, you'd never know it was there; it doesn't give him any trouble, really. He's also fairly pale and would probably burn instead of tan.

Despite his lanky stature - or maybe because of it - he's not very muscular. He's mostly stayed inside all his life and he's terrible at sports and other physical things. He's gotten a little better with endurance due to being on the run for most of the year, but there's no major muscles or being toned or anything cool and handsome like that.

That being said, although not entirely physical but having to do with his strength, he is a god reborn into a human's body. Luceti's tapped down his power level to 50% as per usual, but he is a lot stronger than a normal human. Once that's completely sealed off (either by a Shift that completely cancels out special powers, like in the tunnels, or in canon by members of the Grigori), though, he becomes about as strong as your average bookworm - that is, pretty weak.

Hygiene/Grooming: Pretty well-groomed, generally. He's been raised in a well-off family (they're rich, more or less) although that doesn't mean he's had the highest class stuff - that's for the nobles. He likes warmer scents (vanilla and etc) but he doesn't use them too heavily because... despite appearances and jokes, he's not a chick. (Although in the canon remake he does get a cross-dressing costume, and it's made mention in a skit in both that with his "pretty skin and slender hips" he'd make for a good girl. Take that as you will.)

Hobbies/Habits: He loves reading -- either you find him with a book or discussing books or, well, at the library. He's in the Book Club here at Luceti. He's also been practicing art once a week with Pao-lin since early December, although I don't recall if we ever made a day for that-- if we did it was weekends, so he'll probably have some paint splotches if one catches him around town then.

Other Things: Luca tugs on his hair when he's thinking or making rude remarks, generally the left side. He's a little tense around most new people, although he's definitely gotten better about it (wouldn't say he's comfortable or relaxed, though, unless he knows they've got something in common). Intimidating people (or quiet ones) usually, well, intimidate him pretty fast. He's the kind of guy who's an open book as far as emotions go, and if there's something troubling him it'll be written all over his face. If he wants you to tell him "No, you're not a bother, don't worry." it'll show. As much as he tries to deny it, it's definitely like that.

He's a little insecure when it comes to friendships as he's never really had friends before, or at least ones that didn't use him for their own personal gain (like, say, copying off his tests). He's got a near photogenic memory - he counts every single battle they have in canon and proposes parties for the big number ones, like 100, 300, 750, and 1000; he also usually daydreamed during class and still got high marks.... As far as friends go, before he started off in his journey in canon he had maybe two, and they don't really seem like true friends until they hide him from the Imperial Army -- he's insecure about things like friendships, because unless you show him you like him (somehow) he's going to think you hate him.

He's got a naturally soft voice. While he doesn't have exactly perfect diction, he certainly strives in that direction (he tends to switch it up between "___ an I" and "me and ___" pretty often, depending on who he's talking to).... He tries to not cause trouble for people by staying out of their way or keeping quiet or continuing to be practically invisible but, of course, that usually causes troubles. He tends to speak out loud (his "inner monologues" aren't exactly "inner"), if mumbling, and

to be honest if he didn't have an interest in a chick most people would throw him right into gay territory. Actually, even though he does they do that. His interactions with his best friend don't really help.

He's just very sentimental/emotional and prone to crying at times (although he's determined vowed not to cry anymore before -- that's harder to stick to than one'd think) and he's kind of girly and soft spoken and. Yeah.

-- Also he wants to be a doctor when he grows up but he's been groomed to inherit the family business. His father's need for perfection and the highest grades definitely reflect on him and his curiosity -- as well as his extensive knowledge on things that don't concern him or his city/country. He's definitely more interested in the world at large (and in Luceti, other worlds) than what's around him normally. Fantasy books are a favorite of his as one can lose themselves in another world without ever leaving the comfort of home. He knows some things about war but really, he just thinks it's Bad (if sometimes Necessary) and should be over with, especially if things are just at a stalemate.

Robert Hastings

[personal profile] semper_cogitans 2012-03-07 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh goody, something I get to tl;dr FOREVER with.

Clothing: Robert is almost never seen without his trademark Terran lab coat and glasses. They are nearly omnipresent and he has a strong attachment to them; attempting to remove them or otherwise divest them from him will cause a lot of anxiety. (Sherlock is free to notice that the lab coat is such that it covers his arms, and Robert doesn't seem to have any problem with it being opened. This could hint towards him hiding something about his arms, of course.)

Beyond that, he tends to wear very dull-coloured clothes (blue is the brightest colour he'd normally wear), with an air for a strange fusion of business-casual and just plain casual. His clothes are nearly always in top-notch condition and show signs of being frequently laundered - probably too frequently, to be honest. If he's wearing anything that deviates strongly from this, then it must be an incredibly unusual situation (most often a Shift, honestly).

However, Robert has no conceptualization of the gendering of clothing - as such, it may not be uncommon for Sherlock to see him wearing things like skirts and blouses, provided they're business-casual and in darker colours themselves. (He's free to point this out to him, by the way, though other characters probably will too.)

His shoes tend to be very oriented towards the practical - they're most often a good-quality walking shoe rather than any kind of fashionable professional shoe, though he might wear that at someone else's behest (again this wouldn't be usually obvious).

In wintry conditions, he wears two coats - his lab coat underneath a larger winter coat. He also tends towards boots and a scarf; he's rather sensitive to extreme cold, though living in a house with the temperature turned down all the time has desensitized him to lesser amounts of it.

He carries a simple white cloth bag - something like this - around with him when he goes shopping or otherwise on excursions. It's also clean and well-kept, and doesn't show many signs of being used for a year or more.

Incidentally, both Robert's glasses and lab coat are made with compounds that don't otherwise exist in Luceti. If Sherlock ever got a chance to examine them in microscopic detail, he'd be able to see this. As well, the frames and lenses of his glasses are extremely flexible and won't break in the vast majority of circumstances. Sherlock is free to notice this anomaly.

... One of the hardest things to notice is a thin cord under his clothes. (In order to see it, his lab coat would have to be opened.) The cord is a plain black; on the end of it hangs a metal turtle pendant. The front of it is green and purple speckled enamel; the back is plain metal, and etched with "Robert + Donatello". (This will be an obvious clue as to who Robert is with if Sherlock doesn't pick this up casually from the village; it's not exactly hidden.)

Personal Grooming Overall: Robert is extremely neat and clean. He goes to a lot of effort - obsessive effort, actually - at keeping himself as such, and it is very rare to see him even somewhat dishevelled. However, since he's exercising and training more often now, this will probably begin to become more commonplace - he'll still try to go out of his way to keep clean, though, and more often than not will be relatively immaculate. He tends to smell like a mixture of diluted cleaning products, a science lab, and a hospital - very sterile smells. His fingernails and other such small, delicate areas are routinely cleaned, like the rest of him. (Incidentally, he's right-handed.)

Hair Specifics: Robert's hair is usually kept clipped and relatively short, more for ease of care than anything else. He has a prominent M-shaped bangline that almost never varies, and he takes great care to keep his hair exactly symmetrical, to the point it looks strangely so. He doesn't use hair products save shampoos and conditioners to keep it clean; the scent of them might indicate that they're generally organic soaps (though he isn't opposed to using more chemical ones, but Terran ethos pushes him towards the recyclable ones generally). Robert brushes his hair on a consistent basis, and always towards the back of his head, except for the area immediately around the natural "point" at the back of his head, where his hair growth pattern meets.

Skin Specifics: Robert's skin is overall pale (in a sickly sort of way) and unmarred, showing that he hasn't done much in the way of physical exertion. Though Luceti has changed this, he hasn't entirely shifted away from a lifetime of gentle desk work, and as such his skin is unblemished for the most part. This, however, is drastically changed when it comes to his arms. Dark, prominent track marks run the length of both of his arms; the scarring is most obvious around his wrists and inner elbows, but the bruised veins and stretching scars run as far up as part of his chest. These are, in the vast majority of situations, going to be covered - if Sherlock can see them then he's probably panicking. There are visible indents where his glasses tend to sit.

Physical Appearance (Beyond Grooming): Robert is noticeably short - a scant 5' 4.7" (1.64388 m) tall and a mere 133.62 LBS (60.6090 kg) on average, though his weight may be slowly increasing due to putting on muscle. Overall, he is very slender and small; he looks rather fragile; however, his arms and legs in particular are starting to develop muscular definition due to training with a sword and other similar exercises. It may, however, be obvious that this is recent and the majority of his life was spent relatively sedentary. His features are strangely "ethnically blended" despite his overall skin colour being close to a Caucasian. His eyes are a misty gray and his hair is a mahogany brown (so with a faint, dull reddish cast). His wings are covered by his omnipresent lab coat (which may as well be a body part) - but were they ever to be uncovered, they'd be a striking black and white with a blue sheen. If Sherlock knows anything of birds, he'll recognize them as the wings of Pica pica or the European magpie.

Habits/Quirks/Noticeable Traits: Perhaps Robert's most visible traits are anxiety-related. He has a very rigid posture, with closed-in body language, hands often held up to his chest and fidgeting or wringing his fingers often. He has trouble holding eye contact and will look away frequently if someone tries to make it. He has a number of small nervous habits, including fiddling with his glasses and lab coat sleeves, and glancing down often as well as shuffling slightly in place. He frequently organizes objects in places he is, usually in patterns of three. This is repeated especially if he's nervous, upset or otherwise in a bad mood. (It may be recognizable to Sherlock as a symptom of OCD, if the rest doesn't give it away.) He isn't usually touchy-feely with people unless he's extremely comfortable with them.

... If he opens his mouth, his stutter will be immediately obvious. It's pretty apparent and he's a little embarrassed about it now that it's been repeatedly brought up. (The stutter is significantly less obvious when he's with people he trusts, in a situation that's not stressful, or otherwise not being pressured, though it's still there if you listen closely.) Besides the stutter, though, Robert also has an accent - it's something like an English accent, but spoken by a mediocre actor.

Profession: Robert is an astrobiologist and will openly identify himself as such, but he also acts a lot like a general scientist and in Luceti has become something of a medical doctor as well. He's currently undergoing training by Trafalgar Law and Mizuno Ami to become a better doctor, and he's constantly sharpening his general knowledge - both out of a genuine love of learning, and out of a feeling like he should be doing something useful with his time in Luceti.

Hobbies/Common Activities: It's easy to find Robert in the library - that is his most common hideaway other than his own home, which isn't easy to get into due to a barrier surrounding it made by Helios (this is not common knowledge and only a few people have any idea it's there). He will often be in there studying or using his nanocomputer, which is immediately obviously different from Luceti technology - 15 cm long, coated in blue-tinted artificial chlorophyll solar cells, opening by sliding out and full of various scientific tools (with a clear or a dark case depending on whether it needs to be charged or not; Robert usually has both with him if he takes his nanocomputer out). Besides this, he might be volunteering at the Battle Dome clinic (generally earlier in the mornings), or training there with Link at his sword practising. He might also be seen in the facility programming a simulation. In addition, he does chores (more often when it's cold, a fact Sherlock is free to notice) and can be found at the Item Shop doing grocery shopping and the like. He's usually alone, but sometimes might have company - most notably that of either one of the TMNT (they alone will stand out like sore thumbs), Helios, Grune, or another close CR member.

Information (That Would Probably Be Easy To Pick Up):

Robert is gay and involved with Donatello. This is really not hard to figure out if you pay any attention to him - he doesn't blatantly announce it anymore, but he gushes about Don so often and in general lives with him and does so much with him that it's a hard conclusion not to come to. (Feel free to assume Awkward Things about Leonardo, though it should be easy enough to figure out he's Don's brother.)

Robert has AS (Asperger Syndrome), or something similar to it. This... will also be pretty easy to figure out, if Sherlock pays particular attention to how he interacts with people. Having a tendency to take things overly-literally and in general missing social cues that would seem obvious will further drive this point home. Robert doesn't announce this either, but he will admit it if asked without much issue.

Robert is from far in the future - 2332 A.D, to be exact. The way he acts will make this obvious if he doesn't bluntly say it himself. Sherlock may be able to guess things about his culture - his pacifism, his world's skew towards the scientific, etc. - from the way he talks and the terms he uses to describe things ("archaic" and "barbaric" being especially telling). He'll helpfully clarify if asked about it.

He lives in House 55, with Don and Leo, as well as his cat Carbon, whom he's very fond of. He also raises quite a few plants in hydroponic gardens in his house, so they might be visible in imagery.

...

... I think that's about it? If I can think of anything else (sob) then I'll add it...?

Let me first link this for the sake of not writing up way more.

She's usually impeccably groomed (nails done, hair styled, etc) but generally wears very light make-up. Mascara and lip-gloss at most. She dresses fashionably but modestly (for her time). She can often be found working or patrolling in things that might throw Sherlock off at first because the logical assumption is not to think that a woman in high heels was patrolling like a soldier. There are a lot of contradictions in Buffy's behaviour that do not necessarily follow logic (or at least, no logic that Sherlock would be familiar with -- ie, the existence of Slayers), so I personally would be interested in playing some of that out. She now very rarely seen without a men's jade dragon ring hanging on a chain around her neck alongside a Christian cross charm. And she is never seen without a matching(ish) jade ring on her right hand.

In fact, casual observation might show her as being hyper-associated with religious imagery. Holy water, crosses, etc.

She probably comes across as a little Type A and exacting -- appears very organized, well-dressed, fastidious. It may take longer than a moment to realize that these are lied. The reason why they might not be so easy to see is that they are not lies that Buffy is telling everyone else but lies she is performing for herself; trying to convince herself of some veneer of normality. Perhaps she clings a little too fiercely to this notion.

Then there are the obvious ones. Her vampire bite scars on her neck. She has a scar on her stomach from a kidnapping that is very brutal but wouldn't be seen unless she was in a bathing suit, probably. She's very strong -- and wields her strengths and her abilities very casually. They certainly seem natural to her -- not like casting a spell, for example. It make take a few meetings for this to pop up, though. She doesn't always use it in every situation.

However there are frequent mentions of her in the New Feathers Guide that I'm sure he'll pick up on -- she's known around the village, she's not exactly a mysterious quantity. If there's anything else you wanna know, just hit me up! I'll try to give tags a good amount of depth too.

Grune currently has one hell of a case of magical amnesia, which affects not only her memory but her personality in a significant way. Her amnesiac state is her Luceti default, but I've also included any changes to her appearance/behaviour in italics for when she gets her memory back.

Clothes: Grune typically wears extremely revealing clothes. This is her canon outfit; this is a non-canon example. They're always green, unless the clothing was a gift from someone, and they're always long, low-cut dresses. She shows no self-consciousness about how much skin she's got on display--she wears them because she thinks they're pretty and is unaware of the reactions she might cause. Her clothing style is the same with her memories, but while she's aware of the reaction she causes, she gives no fucks. She wears what she wants.

It's particularly noticeable in the winter, but Grune isn't at all affected by extremes in temperature the way others are. She rarely dresses for the weather and mostly puts on warm clothes only because other people tell her to. She will dress more appropriately with her memories to avoid standing out.

Her clothing is generally kept very neatly and carefully, though as she's an avid gardener, there may be some dirt that finds it way onto her dresses. With her memories, she's FAR more likely to notice and clean away any dirt.

She lives with a (white-haired) three-year-old girl and a giant bird, both of whom are affectionate; it'll probably turn up on her clothes. This will probably remain the same. She also is extremely prone to giving hugs, and frequently visits House 44, where there are two cats and a dog.

She always wears heels that are around 2" high. In winter it's boots; in summer it's more likely to be regular high heels or heeled sandals. She roams all over Luceti in all seasons, so the dust on them will reflect as much. With her memories, her destinations are purposeful and thus will be much narrower in scope.

Hair: Grune virtually always wears her hair braided and pinned up (see above). The only exceptions are when she's at the beach/hot springs and first thing in the morning (but only her housemates have seen this outside of experiments); then she wears a long braid. She also always wears her veil and a crown of flowers (most often artificial in the winter; rarely so in the summer) or occasionally, a pair of hairsticks. Her hair is very neat in the mornings; by the end of the day, it may be getting slightly wispy from her various adventures.

Jewelry: She typically wears the earrings pictured in her official art, along with the choker. She wears the red beads only rarely, when she's going to be doing something that might result in damage to her jewelry or clothing (usually fighting). She's more likely to wear the red beads whenever she has her memories back.

She has two necklaces that she will wear, one or the other, or (without her memories only) both. The first is this, handmade and given to her by Rupert Giles. The second is this, which was a Christmas present from Frederic Chopin. She will occasionally touch the necklaces if she's thinking about the person in question, both of whom are no longer in Luceti. Giles in particular was an extremely close friend.

All of her jewelry is well cared for, but the two necklaces are particularly so. They're her treasures.

Make-up, etc: Grune wears light make up only--typically light pink lipstick and blush and subtle eye shadow (usually green). She doesn't wear mascara, which will let Sherlock see that her eyelashes are naturally aqua green.

She doesn't wear foundation, as her skin is flawless--unnaturally so. She doesn't tan and she never burns.

She showers or bathes daily, using whatever happens to be in the shower to wash. Two of her housemates are extremely practical and one is fond of luxury, so the scent of her shampoo and soap will vary accordingly and may occasionally be masculine.

None of this changes when she gets her memory back.

Scents: Grune's personal scent is largely garden-based--damp soil, occasionally fertilizer, plants--in addition to the usual soap and shampoo. She doesn't wear perfume. There are also the aforementioned kids and pets. She bakes often; almost always sweets. A small number of her friends are smokers--Smoker, Lupin, Jigen off the top of my head--but she isn't hugely close to any of them. She rarely bakes when she has her memories.

Hands: As previously mentioned, Grune is a gardener and the state of her fingernails will reflect as much. She does clean as much dirt from them as possible, but she will occasionally miss a few spots. She does not miss anything when she has her memories. She uses hand lotion when she remembers after gardening.

Her hands are somewhat callused and surprisingly strong. She not only has the usual ones from gardening tools and gardening barehanded, but she fights with a stone urn, like this (as well as magic, but that leaves no traces unless she's actively casting). She has no scars or blemishes aside from this.

Health: Grune's health is perfect. She has never been sick and has never had any illnesses, and neither has she needed glasses, braces, etc. She has no scars, no old injuries, nothing. She will cut and bruise if injured, but that's all.

As you might exepect, this is all to an unnatural degree.

Habits: Grune doesn't fidget; all of her motions are absent but purposeful. This holds true for when she recovers her memory, but everything will be controlled. Her grace is unconscious. All her motions are very fluid and relaxed; her posture is neither good nor bad. With her memories, it's perfect and dignified.

Her most distinctive gesture is when she has a lapse in memory or is thinking; she'll adopt this pose. Verbal tics include frequently saying "Oh; oh, my; and hmm...." This disappears when she regains her memories.

She has virtually no startle reflex and will display surprise at almost nothing. With her memories, if she's startled, she'll immediately go on the defensive. She is always perfectly relaxed in the presence of everyone, including perfect strangers. With her memory, she's virtually always guarded, even with close friends.

She wears her aqua-green wings uncovered and is unselfconscious about them; they may occasionally give a flutter while she's talking. With her memories, her white wings stay folded against her back.

She's very physically affectionate and will hug or hold hands with even perfect strangers. She has no personal space and has trouble understanding the concept. She's far more reserved with her memories; physical contact is limited to only close friends on special occasions.

--

...I think that's everything! If you have any questions, ask away! ♥

I'm sure you know most of this already, but I should probably add some elaboration and headcanon. Here goes!

Clothes: Sally resses conservatively but smartly, typically business casual-esque with sensible heels. Her clothes tend to be relatively new and are never worn or frayed beyond the usual minimal daily wear and tear; she has some tops she's fond of that she's kept for a lot longer than the rest of her wardrobe, but she isn't sentimental by nature, so there are only one or two. Her clothes aren't overly expensive, but are good quality. Her favorite coat is an army green one that buttons up the side and has a belt; she has a habit of putting it on on reflex when it's too warm to wear it and ends up carrying it instead. She also only carries a purse when it's too warm to wear her coat and keep her stuff in the pockets.

Hygiene/Grooming: She showers regularly, is always careful to use products with feminine scents nowadays thank you very much, and only wears perfume for special occasions. She keeps her nails clean and trimmed, and never wears nail varnish, and she does wear makeup, but it's always minimal and natural. She keeps her hair natural and always makes sure it isn't tangled or messy.

Jewelry: She sometimes wears understated jewelry that won't interfere with work, like a simple necklace or stud earrings. These she keeps in good condition. She always wears a silver ring on the middle finger of her left hand, but doesn't keep it in tip top condition because she doesn't often think about it. She also always wears a watch that, price-wise, is on the upper end of mid-range.

Health: Sally is in excellent health and maintains a regular workout routine to stay in shape. She very rarely gets sick, but when she does, it tends to be a brutal and lingering illness that puts her out of commission for ages rather than a case of the sniffles.

Habits/Hobbies: Sally is a perfectionist and almost but not quite a neat freak, so in general her clothes, house, and belongings will be clean and organized. She sometimes has trouble sleeping, but if she has time for it, she always at least lies down in a darkened room for eight hours a night. She makes up for the lack of sleep with a lot of coffee, and tends to drink too much coffee even when she has slept well, so on those occasions she gets slightly jittery. She sometimes scratches her nose as a nervous habit, and if she's thinking or bored she'll usually pick up a pen or utensil and twiddle it. If she's devoting all her attention to someone she'll turn to face them fully; if she isn't, she's probably not paying all that much attention. She always makes eye contact when she's speaking to someone. In general, she's alert and attentive, especially when she's somewhere unfamiliar, and always scans a room as she enters it (not that she'll pick up anywhere near as much as the master himself, but a detective is a detective). She's not a physically demonstrative person by nature, even with close friends and family, but her posture and expressions are more open when she's among people she likes. She's a fairly picky eater and she never eats breakfast because she claims eating first thing in the morning makes her nauseous, but since she's been in the habit since age twelve it's hard to be sure. She also has a somewhat obsessive interest in crosswords and sudoku which manifests in her constantly having pencil and newsprint smudges along the edge of her dominant (right) hand.

...Uh...yep, I think that's all I've got so far. Feel free to ask for any details!

Kazooie (the Breegull)

[personal profile] talontrot 2012-03-08 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Now watch me tl;dr massively... again.

Clothing: Kazooie is both easy and really difficult to identify for this - she doesn't wear any clothes on a consistent basis, per se, so generally one will have to guess simply based off of her body. (Of course, there's really not much to guess there.)

During drafts and any significantly dangerous occasion, Kazooie will be seen with her trademark blue backpack. It buckles in two places using brown clasps and has a golden Rare logo on it. Sherlock will be likely to find her inside such a backpack - she mysteriously manages to fit into it despite logically not being able to. (She can do the same with other backpacks and similar carrying devices as well.) When inside a backpack on someone's back, she noticeably has access to a wider range of moves and can better pull off some of the moves she has, though she's significantly slowed down and curtailed in speed.

Also, during fancy occasions, Kazooie is prone to wearing simple but standout outfits such as a simple black tuxedo vest and a black bowtie. She might also sport a pair of sunglasses if she's relaxing on the beach.

... If she's ever humanized for a Shift, she won't really know what to do with clothing, though one could probably expect to find her in brightly-coloured clothes that mimic her own natural body colours, and are comfortable and easy to wear like shorts that won't restrict her from a lot of movement.

Personal Grooming: As a cartoon, Kazooie rarely needs to do much in the way of personal grooming. Her feathers are essentially incapable of really getting damaged - but she still exhibits preening and grooming behaviours occasionally out of habit. However, she is rarely immaculate - she often has dirt or grime on her, especially on her legs because she does a lot of running and jumping. She's not afraid to get a little messy, and all of this shows she has an active, exuberant lifestyle.

Despite all this, though, she wouldn't want to be filthy particularly long - birds don't like being too dirty, and she has expressed disgust at completely unsanitary conditions before. It will just take longer for her to care if she's engrossed in something - especially if she's in the middle of something extremely awesome and thrilling. Then things like cleanliness definitely take a back seat to adventure.

Physical Appearance (Beyond Grooming): This is something that should be really easy to pinpoint. Kazooie is, in a word, totally standout - about three-and-half feet tall (1.0668~ m) and weighing less than thirty pounds (13.607~ kg), she is also very small, but possesses a disproportionate amount of strength despite her dimunitive size. She looks like a walking, talking computer model - basically almost exactly like her high-definition computer models - even down to the rasterized look on her crest and the pixellated edges of her feathers. (Inspecting a feather up close will reveal that the colours are pixellated.)

Her body is plushy, like velvet, and rather unnaturally warm to the touch - consistent throughout, like she's artificial. The skin of her legs is a pebbly texture, though it's a very precise pebbling and doesn't deviate much - her claws are small but sharp and capable of getting a lot of traction (more than expected). Her beak is smooth, marked with two subtle nostrils at the top (between her eyes) - think plastic-like smooth - and rigid, but capable of contorting in ways it just shouldn't be able to for her to play things like a kazoo. Her wings are similar - they can flap in a way that suggests there isn't even a bone structure in them. She has a medium-length tail composed of three large feather structures; she flicks it often, especially when she's running. Her pelvis is slung further back than it is in most ground birds, and it gives her a strange, leaning gait.

Her eyes are probably one of her most standout features - they are enormous, expressive and bright green. Despite their strange placement, she has normal binocular vision (and seems to be capable of "zooming in" her field of vision with invisible "Amaze-O-Gaze" goggles). They are fringed by hard-to-notice short, black feathery eyelashes; her eyelids are feathered in the same way as the rest of her head. She has a brushlike crest which is manipulable to an extent in response to her emotions; it's rasterized at the edge, and tends to droop a little over her face.

Her Filial wings, however, are noticeably different. They, in contrast to her highly-computerized body, look completely organic. They are the same bright colours as her actual wings, and sit between them, usually tucked flat in the space between her shoulder blade-equivalents.

On rare occasions (usually drafts), Kazooie may be transformed into her Dragon Kazooie form. In this, she's bright green, covered in pebbly scales that resemble her usual leg scales, and marked with the occasional bright yellow scales running the length of her beak-like maw and back. Her tail is slender and ends in an arrow-shaped clubbed tip. Other than her wings being webbed instead of feathered, her head being topped in beige spikes, and her face being marked with frills, there aren't too many differences in her proportions - her height and weight remain the same, and she still has the same abilities as her normal Breegull Form - with the exception of lacking the Rat-a-Tat Rap, which turns into a fire-breathing attack. This form should only really come up during a draft, a mission, or a Shift.

Habits/Quirks/Noticeable Traits: Kazooie is constantly fourth-walling herself, and casually at that - she will mention she's from a video game nearly indiscriminately and bring up aspects of her games in conversation as though it were nothing. If pressed, she'll even give the titles of her games and the consoles they're on. She doesn't seem to see anything wrong with this at all, and in fact prides herself on this fact inordinately much.

Kazooie is very egotistical, snarky, and prone to mocking people at the drop of a hat. She playfully banters with almost everybody she knows and is prone to using slang - often "Americanized" English slang because of her strange origins video game-wise. She generally calls people by silly nicknames rather than their actual name, and isn't particularly formal or polite in the vast majority of circumstances.

Despite her casual, almost cavalier approach to life, however, Kazooie has good instincts and is able to predict how to react to most situations pretty well. She's sharp - not a genius, but a good tactician and able to pull off sneaky tricks. She probably wouldn't be able to outsmart Sherlock, though... unless she threw him for a loop.

She has some birdlike traits, including preening her feathers, tucking her head behind a wing when she's resting outside of her backpack, perching and standing on one leg to keep warm. They aren't very exaggerated though, and tempered by cartooniness. Other than this, her body language is open and relaxed, and she swaggers a lot.

Kazooie's voice is also cartoony and high-pitched, prone to squawking (especially when she raises her voice) and with a strange English accent that tends to get lost in all of the rest of it.

Profession: A hero! And boy, will she remind you of this to the point where it will get seriously annoying. Kazooie is always adventuring and exploring, and she's usually driven to try to save the day, even if she finds it annoying when people can't take care of themselves. This is especially true if her friends are in trouble.

Hobbies/Common Activities: Kazooie trains on a consistent basis to keep herself sharp and in top shape - it's common to see her doing laps around the village and using the roofs and terrain as a kind of parkour. She keeps strange times, so there's no real consistency to when she's out and about, but it's easiest to do so in the mornings when less people are crowding the village. She spends an inordinate amount of time practising shooting Eggs, too, and routinely has to swing by the Weapons Shop to restock from her respawning Egg nests there.

She'll drop by Seventh Heaven generally to eat (because she can't cook too well on her own) and frequents the bakery as well (Sherlock will notice a proclivity for poppyseed muffins) for goodies to eat while she's going about her day. She might also drop by the barracks or Battle Dome to get some more serious training in, for days where she's really focused. Or he might catch her Gliding to the beach or forest, depending on her mood - she's fast enough to get there in a reasonable amount of time.

Her most irritating habit is playing her kazoo-bugle thing - it's a weird, tubular instrument made of blue polished metal. She can play it inexplicably without any real logical way of producing the varied notes she makes - and has gotten to be pretty good at it, too. She'll practise at odd hours and is too selfish to really care if she's interrupting other people. That might even mean she'll try to play it in public venues like Cloud Nine...

Information (That Would Probably Be Easy To Pick Up):

Kazooie lives alone (right now) but wants to move. She's scoping out apartments and seems to want a roommate to pick up the slack (but really she's just lonely, although that part will be much MUCH harder to discern). This is easily found out by the fact her apartment is mostly empty and that she doesn't eat there the vast majority of the time.

She doesn't have the same understandings of the world as non-cartoons do and doesn't respect things like ownership of items or privacy (because she's used to just barging into places and taking all the stuff there). Time in Luceti has tempered this a little, but she still is likely to forget her place and take things without permission anyway.

Kazooie is part of a group of non-humans in Luceti formed by Rainbow Dash, and seems to have inordinate pride about this (not that she doesn't have inordinate pride about most things).

Speaking of Rainbow Dash, it's easy to tell that Kazooie is pretty close to her, as well as Pao-Lin, Grune, and - strangely - Doctor Eggman.

... ffff. If I can think of more I'll add it but for now I'm stumped.

Oh this is a fun permissions post. :)

Clothing: Willock's time period is pretty apparent through his clothes. He practically always dresses conservatively, with collared dress shirts, slacks, and ties, which can bear some rather dorky patterns. When he's outside he's often in a suit and fedora--it feels kind of odd to him to go hatless--and possibly a long overcoat. He really only indulges in the likes of shorts and polo shirts if he's out at the beach or something. At work he's constantly in his lab coat. He's fairly lean but he doesn't like to wear anything too fitted on account of his physical issues.
In Luceti, 90% of the time he's in the same pair of dress shoes--the pair that he arrived with. This is because the heel on the right shoe is taller than the one on the left to compensate for his right leg being shorter than his left by a few inches. Without them, he walks with a very obvious limp.

Accessories: He's a punctual person and very much a workaholic, so he has one of those fancy watches with multiple dials on it. He also often has little tie bars and pins to prevent his ties from falling into anything nasty.

Hair: Thick, brown and side-parted. He often keeps it slicked with pomade, but even with that it tends to be a little unruly and gives him a vaguely flustered look.

Hands: He's right handed and his hands tend to be red and dry from frequent handwashing.

Skin: Pale. He's really not an outdoorsy kind of guy.

Posture: He has scoliosis and his shoulders are lopsided, so he tries to sit in a way that minimizes the appearance of that. He generally tries to stand straight, but he'll lean and slouch without realizing it from time to time just to aid in his balance.

Scent: It would take a pretty fancy event to make him wear cologne, but he does tend to smell of soap and antiseptic. Though he's a doctor, he doesn't have the scent of latex about him--he's from a time where wearing protective gloves was not the norm.

Health: As uppity as he is about the spread of infection, he doesn't take care of himself all that well. His sleep schedule isn't that great, so he often looks rather drowsy and has bags under his eyes in the morning. His eating habits are similarly intermittent, and while this isn't usually quite as obvious, he has gone through periods where he's overworked himself into losing a noticeable amount of weight. There is also the matter of his scoliosis and differently-sized legs, which are the result of a childhood brush with polio. He can't continuously be on his feet for more than an hour or so without getting back and hip pain.
Mentally speaking, he has panic disorder. Even when he doesn't have a full-out panic attack, he can exhibit anxiety symptoms that are beyond the norm--trembling, sweating, hyperventilating and the like. There is a huge stigma surrounding mental illness in his time, so he tends to try and hide his attacks and insist that he isn't feeling bad at all.

Mannerisms: His hands are the most expressive part of him--he gestures a lot when he talks, fiddles with his clothes, etc. His face is less so (though he has a pretty good WTF expression XD) and a lot of his emotions register as a furrowed brow and pursed lips. When he's talking about something health or work-related, he'll make direct eye contact and take on an authoritative air. In other social situations where he's less sure of himself, he can appear more bashful and distracted. He's a good listener and will cock his head and lean in to ensure someone that he's paying attention to them.

Voice: He has a Midwestern American accent and speaks briskly and clearly, often with the sort of vaguely commanding tone and enunciation reminiscent of old movie actors and politicians. His pitch is usually pretty even, but can jump noticeably when he gets emotional about something. His vocabulary isn't terribly outdated, but he has been known to use a few terms that are (such as 'antibiotics' as a blanket term that includes 'antivirals') or use unusual phrasing when talking about things not present in his time (such as 'using the ultrasound machine on' someone, rather than 'doing an ultrasound.')

Profession: Medical doctor--general practitioner, to be exact. He's pretty intense about his work and has a very strong moral sense and drive to help others (though he's not blatantly cheerful or loving.)

Other Information: Aside from his panic disorder, the other thing that he's really not chill about letting people know about is the fact that he fell for one of his patients, was engaged to her for a while, and she left him due to his workaholic habits. For this reason he can be downright twitchy about romance and sexual attraction to a degree beyond the norms of his time. He will go very much into denial if someone points out him checking out a woman. He retreats into his professionalism and work when he gets uncomfortable, and he's a little more obvious about his defense mechanisms than he realizes.

Appearance: This is very important because Rainbow Dash is not a human... and she is not a realistic looking pony, either. Essentially, I treat Rainbow Dash as a living cartoon. She is three-dimensional, but she's just as brightly colored and oddly proportioned as she would be in the actual show. So...

Picture this in 3D, essentially.

here is a frontal shot.

It's also notable that she operates based on cartoon physics and totally defies horse anatomy.

Though she is soft to the touch and feels like she has fur, it's not evident at first glance due to her cartoonish appearance. Her individual strands of hair are not visible, though they can be felt. Likewise, her hooves aren't distinguishable from her legs, much like her art in the TV show. The same can be said with her feathers, which blend seamlessly with the rest of her appearance. To get an idea of what I mean, here is a 3D render of a different character from the show.

Oddly, the individual feathers on her regular wings can be moved individually. She's been shown flexing them like fingers on some occasions, and when a boulder got stuck on a feather in one of the episodes, pulling away from it didn't rip the feather out; in fact, she got stuck. That being said, this seems to fall under random cartoon logic because it's been shown that you can pluck pegasus feathers. I imagine that, despite looking very solid, her feathers feel similar to a bird of prey's.

Her eyes are incredibly large and expressive. They're rounded with three straight eyelashes each. Her snout is nowhere near as long as a real pony's, and if she were governed by the laws of physics, it'd be hard for her skinny torso to support her fairly large head.

She's very fit for a cartoon horse, though, and her build is pretty lightweight, good for athletics and speed. Her wings don't look like they'd support flight, but they do quite well. She's a speed demon in the sky.

Clothes:

Rainbow Dash usually wears nothing. She's a cartoon pony, why would she need clothes? However, there have been occasions where she'll wear a big pair of shades to match her huge eyes and occasionally she dons a headband, baseball cap, and other sporty stuff. If she ever is caught wearing clothes, it'd probably be very tomboyish or at least cool or hip looking... and it'd also be designed to fit a pony with very cartoonish anatomy.

Hair Style: She has a long, rainbow mane and tail that have spiky tufts. She doesn't really style it, but for the most part it's more or less the same.

Grooming products and hygene: Psh, she's not a froufrou fashion type. She probably at least showers, but for the most part, Dash doesn't use any fancy schmancy perfumes. Oh, and she's not afraid to get dirty, either. Of course, given how concerned she is with keeping up a super cool appearance, she doesn't let herself get too unkempt.

Profession: Athlete and daredevil are good ways to describe her. Throw in a bit of heroics, and that's pretty much Rainbow Dash to a T. However, she actually does have a job that goes beyond pulling off radical stunts, and that's weather control. Back in Ponyville, she'd often clear the skies, help set up storms, that sorta thing; it's not something she hides, either. In Luceti, she often will manipulate the weather over a small area as well, such as CH3, where she lives.

She is also going to be the head of a club for nonhumans in Luceti called the Standout Crowd. Expect to see her putting up posters bragging about how awesome this club will be, too.

Habits/Hobbies/Activities: The most obvious one is Dash's habit of making herself known. Seriously, she flies around the village all the time, creating colorful streaks in the sky. She often brings clouds somewhat close to the ground and reclines on them, defying all logical physics. She'll pull off wild stunts, like loop-de-loops, barrel rolls, twirling clouds around, punching holes straight through them... Needless to say, Rainbow Dash likes to get attention, and she loves to impress.

When she's not pulling off high-flying stunts, she's often hanging around the village doing other sporty activities. She's shown to have talents in everything from roller derby to extreme kite flying, so her activities vary a lot.

Often times, she'll fly from rooftop to rooftop just to get a good look at the village. Her usual hangouts include the rec center, Cloud Nine, the bakery, the battle dome, and the main plaza, though sometimes she'll zoom on over to the mountains or the forest for kicks. Sherlock might notice that she refuses to eat anything with meat in it and gets pretty uncomfortable around meat-based meals, especially beef. She's okay with eggs.

One of her most obvious quirks is her use of the terms 'everypony/anypony/somepony' when referring to others from her world. She refuses to use any language that would not appear in a PG rated series/film/so on and sometimes uses horse-related terms, such as hooves down instead of hands down, horse apples to express frustration, filly instead of little girl, colt instead of little boy. She doesn't exclusively use horse puns, but it's a pretty standard colloquialism in Equestria.

It should be noted that she carries herself with an air of confidence, often hovers instead of trots (though she can and will walk on the ground, too), and she gets annoyed pretty easily. Dash is pretty blunt and tactless on many occasions, and she is very, very full of herself. That being said, she does treat her friends nicely, even if she has an odd way to show it at times.

Also, she behaves more like a human than an animal and seems pretty well adapted to village life. Despite having hooves, she's somehow able to pick things up, manipulate doors (though knobs give her trouble), and sometimes will get up on her hind quarters too. Her voice and behavior suggest that she is in her late teens/early twenties.

Her speech patterns are very loose, casual, and she uses a ton of slang. Words like awesome, totally, and radical are definitely in her vocabulary. She isn't constantly spewing slang, but coolness is very important to her.

Information that he might pick up:

- She likes to be noticed, likes to show off, and thinks that she is super awesome and cool, especially since she's one of the only Equestrian ponies in Luceti. She frequently gloats about her speed, her skills, and her ability to manipulate the weather. Oh, and she talks about Equestria quite a bit, like the fact that humans don't exist there, everything from the weather to the sun and moon are controlled by ponies, and the world itself is pretty darn peaceful, other than your occasional disasters caused by big bads, monsters, and the likes.

- She gets very irritated when people point out that she's, gasp, a talking pony, start questioning it, and so on. Dash has basically taken it upon herself to unite the nonhumans of Luceti as a result, though she isn't anti-human by any means and has many human friends.

- Rainbow Dash really likes to preserve her image, and she's always trying to look cool. For example, she doesn't bother with reading because it's an egg-head activity, and she doesn't think cool people (or ponies) read. Don't expect her to go anywhere near the library.

When it comes to written messages on the journals, she tends to just skim, opting to focus on video/voiced messages. In fact, don't expect her to actually write in her journal. She's way more content to just talk into the journal.

- Along with that, she's pretty darn impatient. Get too wordy, and she has a tendency to roll her eyes, swish her tail or flutter her wings a bit, or cross her front legs as if they were arms.

- Her understanding of the world is largely that of someone from a world without the same problems as reality. Though Equestria does have its conflicts and shady individuals, there are no real wars. No famine, very little suffering, and it's ruled by a benevolent princess, to boot. The ideas of murder, war, and other hard-hitting issues are really, really jarring to her because it's just not a part of the daily life in Ponyville. There have been wars in Equestria before, but nothing like what faces a majority of people in other worlds, especially Earth.

- Dash has a number of friends and acquaintances, both human and non. These include Luceti's other pony residents (Luna, Fluttershy, Applejack, and Rarity), Sonic the Hedgehog, Kazooie, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, and some humans such as Eggman, Azusa, Kotomi, and... honestly? She seems to have more human friends who're in their teenage years than adults. This might further prove that she's not the most mature individual in Luceti.

- Physically, she can withstand a lot. What would normally break somebody's bones will usually do no more than maybe bruise her or create comical dents in the ground/walls/whatever it is she hits. She can crash after a nine mile fall and usually will make it out just fine. She's not invincible, but most of the time she's pretty darn durable. If someone were to cut her, she probably wouldn't fare quite as well, however. Also, it's been shown that her wings are probably the most vulnerable part of her body. They'd probably be easy to break with enough force, even if they'd heal in a week.

Also, drop a piano on her, and her bones will break... and heal incredibly fast, like her wings. Go figure!
goldenglasses: Maker on LJ (Yup - That's a door alright)

Vash

style of clothes: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v136/zig_zag123/Luceti/j.jpg

Vash has his body dressed in all seasons in this. In winter adding a hat and scarf when it gets really cold out. Even in the summer he's got himself wrapped up from next to toe. It could be because he's hiding something, which he is. He's hiding some rather nasty looking scars.

His one left arm has a shorter sleeve for a reason. His arm up to his shoulder is fake. It's an amazingly real looking due to it being made with futuristic and advance Earth technology. Although, there is a small line made to look natural between his thumb and pointer where a gun can shoot out. (Granted, this is anime, that line is not actually there in the show, but for Sherlock, I'll say it's suppose to look like the glove's stitching. That gun has to shoot out somehow!)

Vash also has a handgun he doesn't really hide on him at all times. His coat is FILLED with bullet holes. So Sherlock is welcome to deduce that he's either very lucky or good at dodging. That or he's very dead back home.

In the summer he's not hot at all in this full covered up outfit. Vash is from a desert planet. Luceti summers are nothing for him. Other signs of him being from the desert have probably faded over time. Such as rough skin, but I'm not an expert at that, so if you think of something that would still be around that would suggest that - go for it!

hair style: People don't call him a broom head for nothing. Vash ALWAYS wears his hair spiky and up. And no, it's not magic anime hair. Vash actually has to spend time doing this. If he gets wet or is lazy his hair falls down. Yet for all the ridiculed he gets for his hair he never changes it. So he either really likes that hair do and doesn't care what people think, or it's important to him for some reason.

He keeps himself well groomed. Showered, shaved, after shave. Never too much as he has no one to impressed, but he still likes to look nice. Of course, the only grooming that can really be seen is on his face, as everything else is kept wrapped up.

jewellery: Vash has one earring. Looks like an ordinary earring, but it's actually very advance future technology. It's actually a communication device. The anime doesn't really show any of hint of how it works as it really doesn't look like anything special then a loop earring. So not sure if Sherlock can pick up on that or not. Vash rarely uses it, and has never used it in Luceti. I'll leave that up to you!

habits/hobbies: Vash loves donuts, he'll probably have donut crumbs somewhere on him at any given time. He also loves flowers and spends a lot of time in the flower shop. If Sherlock sees him around town he spends a lot of time also in Good Spirits, Seventh Heaven, and just people watching.

Vash also loves to play the idiot. Often time falling or letting someone hit him. A careful eye like Sherlock can probably catch on that when he does this he always falls in a way that will hurt the least or that he can probably see the smack coming. He's smart, but he likes to hide it. Vash actually has an IQ that is suppose to be above that of most humans (never stated specifically in the show.) Sherlock is welcome to catch on to this if you'd like! Vash is an amazing actor when it comes to this, but I'll be alright with Sherlock catching on.

health issues: Not a problem, but as Vash is not human he heals quickly. Healing magic or none. He can also move and react faster than should be humanly possible.

profession: Outlaw. Well, he'd say that he's a hunter of love. Vash is a kind soul who got a bad rap back home and has kept the outlaw thing on the download so far in Luceti. So unless his wanted poster shows up I don't think Sherlock will get that right away. Maybe with talks, but Vash likes to hide that part of his life. So instead, expert marksmanship will fit for his profession for now!

other: Can't think of much else right now. If you know of Trigun canon I'm a pretty open mun and will be happy to hear suggestions! Or even if you don't know it and want to figure something else out about Vash feel free to contact me either PM or on aol! xzigzagx123

---Young Vash---

Young Vash and Older Vash actually have very different looks. At this age he's never cut his hair in his life. So probably has lots of split ends or anything else to pick up that it has never been cut.

He has smooth skin that's pretty lacking in color. He's grown up on a space ship all his life. While they did have a room with artificial sun, it's not real substitute for the real thing.

If Sherlock would like to pick up on it, the kid can be hiding bruises as there is a crew member that doesn't exactly like him. It's not something I typically bring up, but if you want to pick up on something the kid would probably hide - go for it!

He's also smart, as he's only a year old and has intelligence that is suppose to be above that of all of the adults on the ship he's on. Yeah, a year old. Gotta love anime. This would be the best time for Sherlock to pick up on Vash's odd age or the fact that he's not human as this Vash is much more talkative and opened about things over the journals and in person.

That's all I can think of right now. I don't de-age Vash often so hopefully you won't need much.
Edited (Sorry, didn't think to update this when I first tagged with the kid.) 2012-03-21 04:31 (UTC)

Appearance: While it was once winter and Chien was wrapped up tighter than a caterpillar in its cocoon, as it gets warmer he won't be as bundled up. His usual wear is just some shorts and his scarf because he comes from an island nation back home and even though spring would be a little chilly for him he's willing to work through it.

While he has his jackets and whatnot off he has a very large dog skull tattoo/birthmark on his torso that I always forget to make mention of in his appearance with people though I don't suppose anyone finds it too odd anyways with everything else around and fanartists almost always forget to draw it themselves too so... Anyway, here's a picture of it. It's symmetrical. He has it because of his past life but that's another story.

Chien isn't very good at taking care of himself re: hygiene, so he has very poor in that category. Unkempt hair, dirty skin, dirt underneath fingernails, etc etc etc. As you can tell, he's also very tan. From being on an island nation and probably born that way as well.

-- He also has a red dog collar around his neck! And bandages around his forearm up to his elbows. The bandages are less of a fashion statement and more of a necessity for how he fights via hands and feet, though I suppose they'd actually come from his brother's (Cer and Ber, but they're not here so that's another story that goes with the first) tussles with him. It's a reminder of them for him in the end.

Riiiigght now he has bandages all over him from his mallynapping, but the only visible ones are wrapped around his head in a very messy manner. Beneath his clothes there's a ton more from different pain-related experiments and the fact he fought back like a cornered dog when they came to get him. His wings are also pretty beat up and he's not feeling so good because of it.

Speaking of wings, his are in their molting stage! They're half-sleek, half-downy, though he keeps them well-hidden for most of the time. Can't help any stray down that might be on his clothes though.

... Oh, and he looks around 13, 14 years old. Sounds kind of like it too. In that awkward stage of voice-almost-cracking/has-cracked.

Important Facts/Other??: He's not too kind or trustful of anything that's not an animal. It takes a kind heart or a warm hand to dispell his initial rudeness, but it'd linger there because he wasn't exactly the most liked person back home by humans (due to canon) and come out when he's embarrassed. He's a really shy kid. Prefers the forest to the village (which is where most of the dirt comes from now) and dislikes his wings to the point of almost always hiding them if he can (in the warmer seasons, he'll wrap his scarf around them since it's long enough). They're too fluffy for his tastes at the moment.

I can get to that story now. Like Luca up there, he's a god reborn in a human form. For him, it's the guardian dog Cerberus and his brothers are dogs who are genetically related to him (though, again, they're not here - he feels much safer with them around but he thinks he can take care of himself while they're not around) which is why that birthmark dog skull is made mention of up there. See? Even the dog collar makes sense now. What you can gather form all of this is that he is, in fact, very dog-like in personality: he doesn't trust strangers, he's more open to those who are kind to him - but not too open, he can't get himself to depend on others due to his experience with people through his life, and finally he locks up like a stray dog if you make him angry or you even approach him actually and he doesn't know you/isn't on good terms with you.

As with Luca, he's got 50% power as a reborn god here in Luceti, but unlike the bookworm in places like the tunnels and whatnot he's still got speed and some strength going for him - though it's mostly just the first. Chien's still growing though, so he's not as strong as he tries to make himself to be and relies on his dexterity and agility to make up for it. That being said he fights like a wild animal, with hands and feet as claws and I wouldn't be surprised if he bit, too! It'd certainly show in how he holds himself in the defense, hunched over with his hands claw-shaped in front of him like a grappling motion and snarling.

He considers himself a protector of the forest because that's what he was back home on top of being what the humans hated him for (Avatar/"Fallen"/reborn god) so he takes anything regarding animals, nature, etc very seriously.

The way Chien talks is simple (but not stupid-simple, just using as many words as necessary to get his point across!) with whatever big words he's learned tossed in if he can. Mostly for informational purposes. By the way, he gets frustrated if he doesn't understand something or there's a big word he doesn't know and especially if it's spoken in an unkind way. For people he's closer to (one person here) he's not as mean with that and more of confused, but for strangers? Yeah he's annoyed as hell.

-- If there's anything else please tell me I love talking about my puppy boy!
fleurdesel: center, smirk, smile, sarcastic (And I'm still right.)

[personal profile] fleurdesel 2012-03-17 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Appearance: Petite, standing at 5'2”, slim build with lightly defined musculature in the arms and shoulders, small bust, wide hips. Her legs are well toned from years of practicing classical ballet; her hands and wrists lithe and delicate. Despite her force of will and occasionally stoic front she gives off the appearance of being fragile. Her eyes are light blue, her hair is blonde, her skin is pale.

Clothing: While at the clinic she sticks to her utilitarian and semi formal attire; button down blouses in white, off white, and shades of blue, black slacks. Fitted, tailored for her by her older sister Ameile, a designer in her home world. While jogging or working out she wears plain grey or black jersey knit yoga pants and a black or grey tank-top, with a coat as the weather wills. All her clothing is regularly laundered, in good condition, and neatly pressed.

She does live with one dog and two cats, and there may yet be hairs she did not manage to pick up with a lintroller.

Clothing of note: Her winter coat, a military cut trench, is a re-tailoring of her father's coat, also done by her older sister. The fabric is older than the new seams, worn, discreet pockets lined along the cuffs and the back of the collar that are unused. The buttons are worn but polished, the coat kept in good repair. Parallel stitches reinforce the seam on the left shoulder and an inch of the right hem; tears Adele repaired herself using a surgeon's stitch.

Accessories: She doesn't wear jewelery, but she does wear a simple leather banded watch on her left wrist. The clip for her hair is plain, and has a small segment that pulls away and hides a small, flat knife.

Shoes: Business flats with solid arch support and traction, she's on her feet most of the day and the edges of the sole are worn accordingly. There is a variation in the sole in the left heel that can be pulled away for a second small knife.

Hair: Blonde, curled, and always out of her face. She doesn't leave it loose. Adele keeps her hair pinned back in a French Roll unless she is showering or sleeping. It is kept out of her face and out of the way, though as the day goes on small wisps will come free and frame her face. She only uses water to slick it down while she clips it back, she does not use mousse, gel, or hairspray. Her shampoo is scentless, she conditions regularly with an anti-frizz formula to prevent split ends in her curls.

Hygiene: She showers regularly, using exfoliates and moisturizes to counteract the dryness caused by frequent washing up in the surgical ward. She hasn't performed many in Luceti, but the habit remains. Her nails are clipped and short, kept clean and even. Her hands are her livelihood, and she takes care of them.

Makeup: None. She takes enough care of her skin she does without, more often than not she simply does not have the time. As such when she does not sleep well, there is nothing to conceal the darkened skin under her eyes.

Posture: Adele holds herself well, upright, and moves with a grace that comes from her years training in dance. Her motions are efficient, precise, and fluid.

Personal effects: A plain leather wallet with credit cards, business cards, ID, worn stitching. A man's wallet, her father's. She keeps it in her briefcase, a brown leather attache case she carries if she is making house calls. It's handle is worn, the locks polished, and appears slightly smaller on the inside of the top lid than it does on the outside.

She doesn't carry a purse. What she needs, when she needs it, is usually in her case.

She doesn't wear perfume as she finds the practice pointless. Her skin is fair due to a great deal of time spent indoors. She doesn't require glasses or corrective lenses.

Adele is an acrophobe, and will be tense if she has to be four stories up. Anything higher is beyond her unless she is medicated. As such she keeps to the second story or below unless she absolutely must do otherwise.

Habits/hobbies: Adele pushes herself, and has recently crashed because of it. Too little sleep and too much done in a day laid her low for two days. If thinking deeply she taps her fingers on the nearest hard surface, miming chords or bits of melody from a piece of music as played on the piano. She sits with her back to a wall, is tense and flinches subtly if touched from behind or hugged when she wasn't warned of it beforehand.

Tea she takes with honey, coffee black, she gave up smoking two months ago and has a habit of having at least one drink before attempting to sleep. Predominantly bourbon or gin, neat. Wines she prefers to be fine, beer isn't something she drinks, overly complicated cocktails confuse her.

With time enough, normally, Adele practices whatever piece of music on the piano at house 44 for her performances at Cloud Nine. When she found pointe shoes in February she began practicing pointework once more, and dedicates at least two hours to it to make up for time lost. She reads often, varied medical studies, works of fiction, and sketches roughly. It is not her talent, simply something she does to keep her hands and mind busy when she cannot focus on anything else.

Health issues: Other than a few light scars: a straight one on her right bicep, a smudge of a healed burn on the inside of her left forearm. All other scars are hidden by clothing, but save the large curved one on her abdomen, they are minimal.

Profession: Adele is a trauma surgeon. Though there has not been much call for her skills as of yet in Luceti she keeps her hours at the clinics and has left herself available for anyone to contact her if they need her.

Any further details that are needed, just shoot me a PM. I think I covered the most important bits.

markofthebrave: (This is My Neutral Look)

Katara

[personal profile] markofthebrave 2012-03-19 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Appearance:
Reference, although taking into account that she's aged two years, her face and eyes will be more narrow, and she'll be slightly more developed and a little taller
Age: 16
Height: 5"4-5"5, leaning towards the 5"5
Weight: About 130, very toned, very slender
Wings: Gray at the base intensifying to indigo at the tips

Clothes:
Whenever possible, Katara likes to wear clothes that most resemble her traditional tribal attire, a blue tunic followed covering loose blue trousers, and arm guards, though she no longer feels the need to wear the fingerless gloves every day, she does in cooler weather. She won't wear things that expose her legs, or pants by themselves - pants are always covered with something, a shorter skirt, the tunic, ect.

Shoes:
In the summer, sandals with "anklets" that double as shin guards, in the winter, and fall, sturdy moccasins made of leather unlike any on earth, and tribal shin guards. She never wears heels.

Hair style:
Katara wears her hair like in the icon above - dark brown, naturally wave and loose, with two 'hair loopies' that come from the par in the middle of her face and draw around to a small bun in the back. The blue beads, notably, are from a type of rock that is also not on earth.

Personal hygiene:
Katara showers every day after her bending practice. In the morning, she just washes her face and brushes her teeth. She now uses modern shampoos and conditioners, and I think she likes the green apple scented ones.

Hands:
Long-fingered and graceful, Katara's hands bear the marks of someone who has worked, and worked hard, for eight of her sixteen years. All the antiquated tasks of a Native American or Inuit woman? She's done them - tanning, net-mending, laundry by hand, skinning, tent-making, ect. That was her life until she was fourteen. More recently, for about a year and a half she's taken up lessons with a bo staff, and her hands will bear those marks. There's a small scar on her left thumb that she got with a hunting knife when she was a child, again - that knife was not forged from earthly metal - and the tips of her fingers show callouses from having learned to play a stringed instrument.
Despite this, she takes very good care of her hands. It's noted even in canon that she uses a moisturizer on them. Her nails are kept short, round, and clean. She doesn't use polish.

Accessories:
- Her mother's necklace
--- She touches it when she's missing her mother, uncertain, or looking for strength
- The knife Sokka made her
--- This is worn on her belt every day. It's worth noting that the leather sheath is from an earth animal and although it appears that the knife's pommel (engraved on the tilt with the Water Tribe symbol) is well-worn, the leather sheath has seen comparatively little use.
- Glass bracelet, filled with water, adjusted to fit high on her upper left arm
- Waterskin. She has several, of two styles. One hangs from her belt, the other wraps around her back and fits between her wings like a one-strap backpack. Notably, again, the leather is not made from any earthly leather. These waterskins are all tigerseal.
- Less obviously, around her neck is an apparently nearly invisible cord that holds a vial from the North Pole containing water from the Spirit Oasis. She keeps this vial tucked away under her tunic at all times.
- And I almost forgot: She has her ears pierced now! Nami did them for her, and she usually wears the earrings that they were pierced with: tiny silver birds.

Make-up:
She probably moisturizes! But the only chance you'll ever see her wearing make-up is if she's coming back from a Girl's Day Out or on the rare event she ever actually goes on a date. Then maybe it's lip gloss and eye shadow (if she gets someone to do that for her) and mascara, but the most she really knows how to do on her own is lip gloss.

Posture:
Her shoulders round slightly when she's casual, and again, she was used to significant labor for most of her life, and the waterskin on her back ain't light, so she has a slight slump, but her head is usually held straight and she will make every effort to look someone in the eye when talking to them. When threatened, however, or even when indignant, that changes. When indignant, her posture becomes downright imperial, and when threatened, she lapses into her bending forms, which are pure grace and dangerous efficiency. Often in a conversation when she feels action may be necessary, she will shift her weight to arrive at a seemingly casual 'set' position.

Mannerisms:
Katara crosses her arms when angry or lecturing and has the aforementioned 'touch of mother's necklace' tell. When weary, she has a habit of resting her elbows on her knees and leaning forward. When extremely uncertain or embarrassed, she'll smooth down a strand of hair.

Perfume/cologne/scent:
Shampoo, soap, leather, water, and depending on the time of day and the activity - sweat.

Health:
- Very good health, however her diet up until 14 consisted mainly of meat, milk, and sea prunes. Luceti has introduced her to soda and she has one or two of those every day now.

Skin/tan:
- Her skin is unfairly clear and healthy, and several shades darker than most of Luceti's inhabitants, most clearly resembling an Inuit in complexion. She does tan, but it's not because she lays out in the sun. It's a worker's tan, or more recently, a surfer's tan.

Handedness:
- Right-handed

Habits:
- The Luceti Life Meme seems relevant here
- Also more recently, her schedule

Hobbies/Profession:
- Katara is a waterbender. This is her primary identification and how she sees herself. She is also a healer, originally with waterbending, and now with Nala
- She is an amateur botanist, being taught the useful and harmful qualities of plants by Ginko, and she keeps a garden that the two of them started together next to her house
- Brook taught her how to play the koto, and she plays it well, and privately, and usually only in the evenings
- She is well on her way to being an very well-rounded doctor. She's had training in medicine and making medicine from Chopper for months, and when he left, Law took over and began training her in the art of surgery (not to mention she helps a woman give birth without panicking once in Season 2 of the show)
--- She has yet to operate on a live patient, preferring to use her healing or Nala

Random Info:
...yeah, I think that covers it - oh!
It should be noted that Katara grew up in a tribal culture, and family was the center of their culture and the whole tribe was just extended family. Also of note - war was very much a part of her daily existence. It effected everything. Her eyes can get very old, sometimes.
Also, she's had a lot of responsibility from a very young age and feels compelled to Take Care Of everyone that she cares for - and pretty much anyone who needs help.

tellmejohn: (Twice Shy)

[personal profile] tellmejohn 2012-03-20 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Appearance: really weird. He's six feet tall and is never not in that bondage suit, so the chances of seeing anything like hair or anything beyond that what of his face is exposed will be minor. His face is sort of like if someone started with someone human, put together a few lizardy features (they're jagged, borderline scaly) and gave up half way. His most human looking are his eyes - they're piercing and blue. His teeth are weird needle teeth. The little beepy things on the side of his head actually are designed to screw out to expose this - a set of cooling rods which screw into his brain. Not that he ever exposes it in public, but there's probably some indication that it screws out because the lights on it are buttons.

Clothes: Like I said, always the suit. It's made of some weird space-leather, and it's actually designed to regular body temperature. It's probably stronger than Kevlar in terms of incidental body armor too. Note that because it is skin tight, his wings are never exposed and always tight on his back. It hurts, but then he's almost constantly in pain anyway

Shoes: Just what's part of his suit.

Hair style: Never visible.

Personal hygiene: Very well kept. He washes himself up and keeps himself in order, even if there's nothing exposed other than, you know, the suit and his face.

Hands: Hands aren't exposed due to the body suit's gloves. His grip is very strong and ... idek what else to note.

Accessories: Usually little, surprisingly. Scorpius has no need to carry around anything because he's stronger than most people, has super senses, and is encased in armor in the form of his thermal regulator suit. If he has anything on hand it'll be for whatever the task at hand is (scientific equipment, a bag with food or drink, a gun, etc)

Posture: Firm, straight, somewhat rigid. Scorpius is career military for a long time now, and it shows in how he moves and stands. Worth noting is that he's been an officer since forever though, so it's with a sense of arrogant dignity more than what you might see in an enlisted man. A lot of his other movements are very precise and practiced except when his temper gets the better of him, which is... well not rare, but it's distinct.

Mannerisms: He has a tendency to pause when speaking a lot, which makes him come off as very precise and very intense. He enunciates certain key words and pauses to inhale at times. When making a point he doesn't use grandiose gesture, but practiced ones. He's almost always very confident looking - he's an intelligent man who is used to operating a few steps ahead of everyone else. These hide most of his emotions under being businesslike and cold. The only one which shows is anger - when his temper or pain get the better of him his voice drops out of the normal refined tone into something more like a growl and his posture as a whole changes. He's becoming "Scarran brained" then. But then, this is often obvious for other reasons such as him foaming a bit at the mouth.

Perfume/cologne/scent: I don't think he properly sweats. He might have a weird smell, but I don't know for sure what it is.

Health: One one hand excellent, on the other terrible. His body is extremely unstable with without the suit and the cooling rods mentioned above he would slip into a coma and probably die. It all comes down to body temperature - if his brain gets too hot (either from surrounding air, his mood, or his rods failing which can be influenced by his mood - he starts to visibly break down - foaming at the mouth, muscle paralysis, other things like that. Outside of that, however, he's the picture of health and will not come off sickly. Or, if he does, someone very used to looking normal while being very "sick."

Handedness: Ambidextrous I'd say, albeit he tends to lead with his right. I think.

I'll edit as I think of more I thinkg.

Hayate Ayasaki

[personal profile] whimsicalwinds 2012-03-29 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Appearance:
Here. He's 16 years old, height's 168 cm (5'6'') and weight's 57 kg (125). Though he may look scrawny, he's actually incredibly strong and fast, and has an extremely high level of endurance. He can also easily pass as a girl.

Clothes:
Normally he would wear his butler uniform, but here in Luceti, he doesn't really have a need for it anymore (though he does have it). So instead, he generally wears jeans and loose shirts, whether they be long or short sleeved. He doesn't get bothered by the heat even in long-sleeved shirts, so he could be found in those even in the summertime. He also usually wears some sort of open jacket over is shirt, like these: (1) (2) In the second one, that girl is wearing his jacket. That's the one he wears most of the time during winter.

His clothes are also all clean and wrinkle-free, as he does iron them.

Shoes:
Just sneakers, unless he's wearing his butler uniform, which, in that case, he would be wearing dress shoes.

Hair style:
Relatively long, both in the back and front. It's light blue, just like his eyes.

Personal hygiene:
Very clean, since he is a butler and all. Though regardless of him being a butler or not, he learned to clean and stay clean himself at a young age and it became a habit. Aside from that, it's all the usual.

Hands:
Right-handed. He does a lot of physical work and labor, cooks, cleans, and plays violin (though not as much anymore), so Sherlock could probably pick up on that. There aren't any visible cuts or scars from all of this though since he heals quickly and is basically like a tank, so...

Accessories:
None. He doesn't need anything. If he does happen to have anything on hand, it would be related to whatever he's doing. (ie. grocery shopping)

Posture:
Very good and straight posture. He’ll slouch once in a while, but the majority, if not all, of the time, he’s standing up straight.

Mannerisms:
Hayate’s polite, and if he doesn’t know the name of someone, he’ll just refer to them as “sir” or “miss,” and whenever he does learn the person’s name, he uses (Japanese) honorifics. He may also give the person a “nickname,” depending on some of their apparent personality traits. For example, he has called a woman “hopeless person,” a few times during one occasion, despite the fact that he already knew her name. Other examples would include those that have happened here in Luceti; calling Robo-Ky “Robot-san” and Kouki—who has headphones that look like cat ears—“Catphones-san.”

He also talks to himself a lot, and he often says things like “eeeeh?!” and “ahh.” ..Very often.

Perfume/cologne/scent:
As mentioned, he’s clean. So aside from the smell of shampoo and such, he smells like clean laundry. Yep. He may wear some sort of body spray (albeit very mild) once in a while though. And since he does do a lot of work, sweat as well.

Health:
Extremely healthy, and he’ll eat just about anything as long as it’s edible. Even if he does get sick, he recovers after a day or two.

Skin/tan:
Fair and clean! It’s canon that his skin is actually in extremely good shape and is really soft. It’s not really too pale at all, nor is it that tanned.

Habits:
There’s the name thing I mentioned, and how he talks to himself. He’s also very… animated when he speaks, as well as when he moves around. He will flail if need may be.

Also, he sleeps about three hours a night. He did it back at home, and he does it here in Luceti as well. This is due to him taking the days to work with cleaning and such (he’ll be taking up jobs to clean people’s houses and cook for them, so it still applies in Luceti) and then studying for school for extensive periods of time and until around 3 AM or so. At home, he woke up early since he thought it would be wrong of him to wake up after his mistress and the other maid working in the mansion. Despite this not being the case in Luceti, the habit did pass on.

Hobbies/Profession:
He’s a teenage butler due to crazy and kind of depressing things. If the conversation calls for it, he’ll happily go ahead and explain this situation. Emphasis on the happily too; he smiles when explaining this stuff, as well as most other things about himself that are actually crazy/depressing.

He enjoys playing violin, and he actually does love school.

Random Info:
-He hates Santa Claus (he refused to give Hayate presents because he’s too poor)
-He hates his parents (for a very good reason—it’s part of what eventually got him to become a butler)
-He has picked up on many strange skills due to his parents’ shady jobs (ie. He can differentiate a fake painting from a real one from a mile away, since his parents used to sell fake art and have him help swap real pieces for counterfeit ones)
