If you have ever read Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories or novels or seen BBC's Sherlock series, you know about Sherlock's extraordinary skills of observation, induction, and deduction. In Sherlock, it takes the likes of Jim Moriarty and Irene Adler to throw him off.

So, this post is for what Sherlock can know. If you want him to know something about your character but can't think of how he could figure it out, tell me. We can work together to decide on something that would indicate it. Otherwise, consult the list below and carefully consider what sort of marks your character would have and what that would reveal, particularly in combination with each other.

A good example of what Sherlock is capable of can be found in the links below.

Things to consider: style of clothes, condition of clothes, brands of clothes, hair style, grooming products used, grooming products not used, amount of grooming products used, personal hygenie, state of fingernails, jewellery, condition of jewellery, kind of make-up, amount of make-up, posture, wallet, purse, condition of fashion and function accessories, cell phone, make of cell phone, condition of cell phone, perfume/cologne, kind of perfume/cologne, amount of perfume/cologne, tan, kind of tan, severity of tan, corrective eye lenses, habits, hobbies, health issues, profession (and the subsequent "marks" it would leave on someone).

Wow I'm going to apologize for the length RIGHT NOW. I'm very sorry.

Clothing: All of his stuff is pretty plain -- his mother apparently was the one who bought him clothes and he's never really seen fit to change the kind of style he's been put in. When it's colder he'll have another jacket on but other than that, it's his usual navy pants/jacket, yellow cravat, boots. He doesn't keep his sword on him since there's not much of a reason to.

Physical Appearance: Despite his baby face, he is surprisingly tall (at around 5'8" iirc) but he's also fairly skinny, so he's probably a lankier, awkward looking kid. He has a scar on his stomach (canon dictates he was stabbed on his left side, but most of fandom depicts him with it on the right) but unless you saw it, you'd never know it was there; it doesn't give him any trouble, really. He's also fairly pale and would probably burn instead of tan.

Despite his lanky stature - or maybe because of it - he's not very muscular. He's mostly stayed inside all his life and he's terrible at sports and other physical things. He's gotten a little better with endurance due to being on the run for most of the year, but there's no major muscles or being toned or anything cool and handsome like that.

That being said, although not entirely physical but having to do with his strength, he is a god reborn into a human's body. Luceti's tapped down his power level to 50% as per usual, but he is a lot stronger than a normal human. Once that's completely sealed off (either by a Shift that completely cancels out special powers, like in the tunnels, or in canon by members of the Grigori), though, he becomes about as strong as your average bookworm - that is, pretty weak.

Hygiene/Grooming: Pretty well-groomed, generally. He's been raised in a well-off family (they're rich, more or less) although that doesn't mean he's had the highest class stuff - that's for the nobles. He likes warmer scents (vanilla and etc) but he doesn't use them too heavily because... despite appearances and jokes, he's not a chick. (Although in the canon remake he does get a cross-dressing costume, and it's made mention in a skit in both that with his "pretty skin and slender hips" he'd make for a good girl. Take that as you will.)

Hobbies/Habits: He loves reading -- either you find him with a book or discussing books or, well, at the library. He's in the Book Club here at Luceti. He's also been practicing art once a week with Pao-lin since early December, although I don't recall if we ever made a day for that-- if we did it was weekends, so he'll probably have some paint splotches if one catches him around town then.

Other Things: Luca tugs on his hair when he's thinking or making rude remarks, generally the left side. He's a little tense around most new people, although he's definitely gotten better about it (wouldn't say he's comfortable or relaxed, though, unless he knows they've got something in common). Intimidating people (or quiet ones) usually, well, intimidate him pretty fast. He's the kind of guy who's an open book as far as emotions go, and if there's something troubling him it'll be written all over his face. If he wants you to tell him "No, you're not a bother, don't worry." it'll show. As much as he tries to deny it, it's definitely like that.

He's a little insecure when it comes to friendships as he's never really had friends before, or at least ones that didn't use him for their own personal gain (like, say, copying off his tests). He's got a near photogenic memory - he counts every single battle they have in canon and proposes parties for the big number ones, like 100, 300, 750, and 1000; he also usually daydreamed during class and still got high marks.... As far as friends go, before he started off in his journey in canon he had maybe two, and they don't really seem like true friends until they hide him from the Imperial Army -- he's insecure about things like friendships, because unless you show him you like him (somehow) he's going to think you hate him.

He's got a naturally soft voice. While he doesn't have exactly perfect diction, he certainly strives in that direction (he tends to switch it up between "___ an I" and "me and ___" pretty often, depending on who he's talking to).... He tries to not cause trouble for people by staying out of their way or keeping quiet or continuing to be practically invisible but, of course, that usually causes troubles. He tends to speak out loud (his "inner monologues" aren't exactly "inner"), if mumbling, and

to be honest if he didn't have an interest in a chick most people would throw him right into gay territory. Actually, even though he does they do that. His interactions with his best friend don't really help.

He's just very sentimental/emotional and prone to crying at times (although he's determined vowed not to cry anymore before -- that's harder to stick to than one'd think) and he's kind of girly and soft spoken and. Yeah.

-- Also he wants to be a doctor when he grows up but he's been groomed to inherit the family business. His father's need for perfection and the highest grades definitely reflect on him and his curiosity -- as well as his extensive knowledge on things that don't concern him or his city/country. He's definitely more interested in the world at large (and in Luceti, other worlds) than what's around him normally. Fantasy books are a favorite of his as one can lose themselves in another world without ever leaving the comfort of home. He knows some things about war but really, he just thinks it's Bad (if sometimes Necessary) and should be over with, especially if things are just at a stalemate.
