Deduction 2 - [ video ]
[They'd agreed to a week. A week without incident, of rest and recovery. Then, the unspoken half of it went, they would go their separate ways.
But after ten whole days without another word said about moving or kicking out...
The video feed kicks on in the early afternoon, aimed at one of the plain white walls of 2-21.]
This is unacceptable.
[Sherlock Holmes is back on his feet and physically feeling much better.
Sorry, Luceti.]
I need paint, wallpaper, and glue. Lots of all of it. Where can I find it?
Also. Regarding the hideously plain excuses for furniture in this flat-- There are obviously no cabs here, so I'm going to assume there are no trucks. How am I supposed to realistically re-furnish a flat? Surely in a place where wings are mysteriously attached to people, there is something better than just carting furniture almost a kilometre.
On a final note: If a human skull shows up in the item shop, it is mine. Return it to me at Community House 2, Room 21.
(Two edits:
A. the Imperial measurement is gone. Bad Lynn. No miles. Kilometres!
B. I spaced about the "only a mile wide" thing and was looking at the scale to try and figure it out. That's fixed in the entry too, now. Sorry about that.)

[ He seems a bit short-tempered, but he's also obviously new. She can grant him a little slack. ]
[voice]
["Surprising" can mean "interesting." In rare cases. He isn't getting his hopes up.]
[voice]
[ Almost sheepish. If he isn't, she doesn't want to scare him. ]
[voice]
No.
[This he has to see. He's not expecting it to be impressive.]

But could be useful. He doubts that, but it's still a possibility.]
[voice]
Your name, please, and I will meet you at the fountain in town for a demonstration in thirty minutes, if you would be available.
[voice]
My name is Xion! And that sounds good. I'll see you there soon!
[ ... though, it's only after she shuts the journal that it occurs to her she forgot to ask his name. Oh well. She'll ask when they arrive. ]
[action]
[action]
Xion notices his arrival, but only decides he's the man she must be looking for when she notices him lingering, as if he's looking for someone. Heading over with a small wave, she pauses just a foot or two shy of him to reintroduce herself. ]
Hi! You must be the man I arranged to meet. I'm Xion.
[action]
Part of him thinks she must be delusional or a con-artist. Magic to actually move furniture? It should be impossible. Yet, the other part must be acknowledged. He has wings on his back in a place with no currency. This world will force him to redefine "impossible."
If she might prove useful, he can at least attempt to be polite.]
Sherlock Holmes.
[action]
She steps back, briefly propping her hands on her hips and looking around before bringing her gaze back to him. ]
Can you think of anywhere you'd like me to show you? The Battle Dome is pretty far from here, but I could take you as far as the ocean, if you'd like to see it.
[action]
But her offer is extremely intriguing.
His first thought is the room of Community House 2. Because he needs to get somewhere high soon. He needs to see that he can look over the edge of a building without fear. He cannot let a phobia develop... Something he hadn't taken time to think of since that day.
There had been plenty of opportunities while still in London.
He smiles a sceptic's smile.]
Beach sounds fine.
[action]
She almost thinks to warn him not to freak out - she remembers the look on Luke's face the first time she did it, and the thought makes her thumb the ring she's got on the ring finger of her right hand with a small, private smile - before she remembers the tone of his address. He doesn't seem like the type who will need it. Instead, she simply nods, and gestures with that same hand.
A swirling black-and-purple oval of darkness appears beside them, almost six feet in height. It has the appearance, somehow, of a doorway. ]
You can go first, or I can.
[action]
[It's quick, sharp, and definitive.
He is not, under any circumstances, stepping through a swirling... something either before or after her. This isn't getting into a cab with a serial killer. Or calling out a consulting criminal for valuable information. There, he could calculate the odds, know the risks.
This... There was no telling what this was or what it would do.
There were no known odds to calculate.]
[action]
Um... sorry?
[ She closes it with a wave of her hand, looking concerned. ]
I didn't mean to scare you.
[action]
No. No, that's the proper word.
It's frightening. Something like that. Something that bears no resemblance to anything he's seen before. He likes new things... but not when they have no basis. Not when he cannot draw on some vaguely similar experience.
He manages to sound almost unaffected when he speaks.]
What was that?
[action]
[action]
[Because if this is possible-- if-- then there must be logic. Something about deep space and worm holes-- things picked up from some of the films and old telly programs John likes to make him watch-- that he simply never paid attention to while in school.
Things that should otherwise be useless but matter here.]
[action]
There's darkness in every world. People like me can access that darkness and move through it, like a short cut. But you can't do it too much. [ ... does she explain what the darkness can do to a heart? No, best not. He might spook again. ] A few trips for some furniture would be safe, though.
