[It's something like a good day.

The item shop has been generous. His mobile phone-- left in Mycroft's possession, last he'd seen it-- and a violin. Not his, so it will take some getting used to, but a fine Stradivarius.

[It doesn't matter here, what he did or didn't do. Not really. And he's still not going to explain why he jumped off the roof of Saint Bartholomew's...

But he does owe Lestrade proof. Proof that the Detective Inspector didn't make a mistake by trusting him. Or, at least, not the kind of mistake his superiors (and even subordinates) thought he had. And proof for John that he hadn't been taken in by a con-man, even if John had never doubted him.

After all, being in control of the recording, he can make sure they don't hear the later parts.]

[He sets aside the journal to wait for a response and takes up the violin. A few taps on the journal, and it's set up to record. Playback will be available, as he does not bother to filter it, but it will not be broadcast live. It's for his benefit he makes the recording: a second listen might help highlight the areas in which he needs to better adjust to the new instrument.]
